Never heard of this outfit either, but if its Sheffield steel, then it should be of good quality. Blade looks in pretty good shape from what can be seen of the pictures. As I understand it, scales can be restored as well. I've not yet had to do it, but unless they are badly cracked or have cell rot, then they can be sanded, conditioned with neatsfoot oil and all sorts of restorative things applied to bring them back from the dead, from what I've read.  You might Google this before you right the scales off.

They look like they have texture. Micarta has been in use since at least as far back as 1910, but most likely in some form or another for longer than that. Resins have certainly been around for a lot longer than that...

Try sanding them with some high grit wet/dry paper. 400 or 800, and see what happens. I would recommend at least doing this on the inside, even if you leave it as-is on the outside. There's always gunk hiding in there...

Thanks. I haven't found much more than that. I wonder how good their razors were considered, in the day. They certainly seemed to be known for their knives and cutlery.
