Show off your Straights!

This was a rescue from my working vacation in New England. A seven day set, ALMOST. Sunday will be a day of rest due to Sunday's razor is missing. A set from Friedmann & Lauterjung "Electric" straights. They are in as found condition, no cracks, splits or rust with modest grim. I passed on them several times due to the missing razor but the seller made me a deal I could not say no to.

VERY nice! Man, somebody really loved those razors. Those 1-piece scales are pretty great, too!

Do you plan on unpinning them to clean them up all the way? What about the gold lettering?

Sorry, I don't mean to pry, but that is a nice, clean, "elegant in it's simplicity", set of razors. Gorgeous! Nice score!

Right now I am going to clean up and hone one for a test drive. They are in very clean condition with just some gunk at the pins. Will try minimal cleaning and give it a go.

Two more for the workshop. A pair of Wade & Butcher's in a double coffin.

I nice find from one of my favorite honey holes. A Carl Monkhouse Blue Star. This beauty is dressed in cracked ice scales, 5/8 blade and looks to have never been honed. It unfortunately did not have its case but that was not a deal breaker.

Bought it out of Japan a couple of years back. They're hard to find in good condition. I'd love to have another and make a pair!

Here are a couple of cased gentleman's pairs that are at least somewhat historic. The images are courtesy of Mark Yundt, aka MyCarver.

The Grelots are 6/8 Lotus Spanish points, Madaille D'Or Paris 1931. They were bought from a dealer in France and have only been honed twice, once by the dealer and once by me/Mark. The scales were cheap faux tortoise, so I had Mark re-scale them in pre-ban ivory. The difference is amazing. Le Grelots marked Medaille D'Or Paris 1931 are fairly common but I've never seen another Spanish point 6/8 shoulderless Lotus like these.

The second pair are Touron-Parisots, and are the real deal ironing board tortoise scales. Touron-Parisot went out of busines around 1870, so I'm guessing these are 1865 give or take a couple of years. Before 1860, they were just Parisot IIRC. I bought these off eBay from an antique dealer some time ago, advertised as 'faux tortoise'. Of course he knew what they were as did some others, there was no faux tortoise in 1865, cellulose plastic wasn't invented until about 20 years later I believe.
