Freddy No rabbit holes here. Nope. None at all.

There isn't a huge number of incredibly talented artisans mixing oils and waxes and butters trying to make the ever-elusive perfect scent, perfect tack, perfect stick, perfect hold, all purpose mustache wax.

No siree, I haven't spent equally as much time researching and purchasing beard crap as I have shaving crap. Not me. No sir.

There is no such thing as a beard forum where gentlemen much like us here sit around and talk shop about growing beards, and how to do it, and what to avoid...

And if'n you believe that nonsense I got some ocean front property here in the desert I'd like to sell you...CHEAP! Angel

Chris, I am actually finding this thread quite interesting and hope others will post photos and, especially, techniques for beard and moustache growth and maintenance. To me, it's a logical addition to wet shaving.

Just an update on my soup strainer. I used the Firehouse Moustache Wax this morning and really liked it. However, I got a bit of inspiration that may have helped. My flat came with a wonderful 1950s gas stove. However, because of its age, it has pilot lights that stay on all the time so the oven remains very slightly warm. Just before I started my morning ritual, I put the closed tin in the oven. When I was ready to tackle my moustache, the wax seemed ever so slightly more malleable, a bit easier to apply, and seemed to offer a bit more control. I still need to dial in the amount of wax I use and grow out the hair a bit more but today's attempt was the best yet. I shall have to try that oven trick with the Black Rebel Beard Co. moustache wax you sent me. Thanks for all of your help with this new, for me, grooming adventure. Smile

Yea, you will find lots of different tricks as you go along...

These days I don't use wax very much, as it doesn't provide a strong enough all-day hold to tame my lip weasle. But on the rare occasions that I do decide to go with a wax, I put it in my pants pocket before I brush my teeth. It warms up in my front pocket for a half hour or so until I actually get to the part of putting the wax in the stache.

You can also heat the top of the tin with a hair dryer for a a little bit before you attempt to scrape some out of the container.

Your method seems to be very convenient...as long as you don't forget about it being there!
