After I shave I take my razor apart and clean and dry all parts thoroughly, reassemble with blade in and hang I my stand for next shave. Some feel strongly about not to leaving the blade in. I would agree, but only if you don’t clean your razor after your shave since it could promote rust. What’s your routine and thoughts on leaving blade in or out?

It depends on my mood. I take mine apart sometimes and I leave the blade in and dip the head in alcohol sometimes. I’ve never had a blade leave a stain on any of my razors.

Probably from being an old guy and seeing so many old TTO Gillettes with rust on the baseplate from wet blades left in, I always remove the blade after a shave. I rinse everything well of course. Put the blade aside until it is used up ... lately 2 shaves, and that's it.

I always take my razor blade out and set everything out to dry in a dish I have for that purpose. I don't put the razor or blades back together until the night before I'm going to shave. I also don't leave my razors in the bathroom as it feels unsanitary. [Image: deb6a6068ea8f5a01da08e0959183942.jpg]

Exactly like your routine, except I don't leave a blade in the razor.

I will loosen the head after my shave and rinse all the soap out of it. I then let it sit for a few minutes in 99% alcohol, remove, tighten the head, and place it in the stand. I have never (knock on wood)had stains on my razors.

My routine when using a DE after a shave is to take everything apart, clean, rinse, dry with micro-cloth and re-assemble everything without a blade. At the same time I mark my blade with black marker so I can always tell how many shaves I’ve had with that particular blade.

Once again I seem to be an outlier. After every shave, I rinse the razor (with blade in) in the faucet. I then shake it a few times and place it back in the rack. Every time. After five years or so, no issues.
