I can't shave sideways on my neck at all, but it is odd bout halfway up it changes so bottom half grows up and top grows down, except on the sides of the top of my neck which grows up 0.o I always get a painless shave except on my neck because the exact spot where the hair growth switches is a mystery 0.o
The hair on my neck grows west to east. I go with the grain in the first pass, xtg on the second pass (south to north) and xtg on the third pass (north to south).
I've tried countless times to go against the grain on my neck going east to west and I would say 90% of the times I try it I get bleeders. Just not worth it.

I have one spot that is best shaved horizontally towards my ear. To make it more of a challenge, it is on the side of my neck opposite my dominant hand, and located more back than front! It makes me consider trying to shave there with my other hand, but I chicken out every morning!

I have to shave side ways on my neck obviously right to left and left to right. I do this on my second pass and have no problems at all. Maybe, it is because two years ago I purchased a five piece ATT Kronos closed comb set. I had two other razors and after about a week I took the blades out of the other two and the ATT is all I ever use and I have become use to it's characteristics; so side ways is no problem.
Andrew, I recall that you are part of the sensitive skin crew, like I am.
As you know, I've been wet shaving about two months, thus I still have much to learn. What I'm finding is that I reach for my OneBlade more and more and everything else less and less.
I don't want to like the OneBlade. I'm old school and want to believe that the vintage razors are the best thing since sliced white bread. The truth seems to be that the OneBlade folks really have invented a better mouse trap for someone with my skin and facial characteristics.
I mention all this as I recall that you are working towards a OneBlade.
