I moved the remnants of the soap to a lather bowl. Worked well for loading, but feels odd leaving the lather in there. I'll either use it up or remove it if the untidiness gets to me!

Nice Eric. I like the color combo there... It's quite Patriotic.

I rinse my soap after it's dried for a few minutes... Just splash, swirl, and dump. Then I dry the tub upside down for some of the shave. There is usually (nearly) no lather leftover. Can you not do the same with a bowl? Or is it there is a lot of leftover lather (I believe you bowl lather)?

Regardless, it looks like that Zingari is about kicked. Nice! I know you mentioned needing to finish a few before you buy some more. Wishing you luck there. Happy Wednesday.

I mostly face lather, but I took your advice and now give the bowl a quick rinse. Actually patted it with TP! I will try the upside down tomorrow! Thanks for the pro tips!

Revisited a razor and blade combo that used to be my go to combination. The Gillette Slim (1964) and the Gillette Silver Blue blade.

And from that time frame (2016-2017), SynBads were my preferred knot, so the Trotter Nacar Oscuro got the nod. Overall, a nice shave. But my Karve Overlanders have spoiled me. The exposed tabs on the Slim almost nicked me, as got carried away swiping whiskers off my face! Tomorrow I'll probably put the GSB into the Overlander, something I don't recall doing before.

To complete the story of blades, the GSBs in 2017 were amongst the most expensive blades, running about $30 or more for a hundred. And I was noticing some harshness on my poor face. So I started looking at other blades and spent a lot of time in 2017 searching for The Perfect Blade for me. That ended up being the Personna Platinum Chrome blade, a.ka. the Israeli Red.

The remnants of the Zingari Man is getting smaller and smaller, and somewhat difficult to load, especially for natural hair knots. But yesterday, I had a surprise package show up in the mailbox! Paul mrdoug kindly gifted me an extra tub of the fabulous MacDuff's unscented soap, Aspen Parkland.

The knot used today was the 20mm Maggard SHD badger in a restored Klenzo handle (restored by the very talented Freddiep318ti). I was having difficulty getting a good lather  and so a new tub of soap gave me the push to leave the Zingari Man wafer and try loading from a full tub. Wow, 25s loading gave an outstanding lather, and very plentiful.
The Karve aluminum Overlander with a Personna Comfort Coated blade rounded out the shave. Absolutely fantastic.

Two weeks and no updates?! Time to fix that!

The shaves have been mostly up to par, with some great and some not so great. I am down to 7 soaps, some of which are much larger than you standard 4 oz. puck. But some are soft and one is a cream, so maybe I can reduce the contents of the soap drawer more. But the soaps left are great latherers for me. Great enough to buy again? Maybe. But I miss a couple of my "standards," like Mystic Water Soaps Sensitive Skin and Mike's Natural Soap Unscented. I have been buying soap from those 2 since late 2015 and I feel bad about not giving them both more business! (I think I can hear some of you saying, For crying out loud, just buy more of your faves!! And I don't disagree!)

Last week, a fellow shaver and member both here and Other Places met up for the 3rd year. As before, we had a good time visiting and enjoying the little harbor in Camden, Maine. I learned that my sunscreen works great on the places it is applied to, but not so much where it wasn't applied!! Yup, I had my very own "boiled lobster" arms and today they are peeling nicely and making me look zombie-ish!!

Other than that, I over half-way around the Sun, on my way to completing 60 solar revolutions! Will I embrace this new number or live near de Nile and celebrate my 30th 30-year/old birthday?!

Quick photo of the setup this morning. Of note is the styptic pencil, which was new in November 2015!

Should we start a Show Us Your Ugly Styptic Pencil thread?!

Happy 8th anniversary for my Steampunk Slim. It arrived back from the shop in mid June, 2016, and was my daily preference for almost 2 years!
