Awesome Eric! That sounds to me like it worked out quite well. On top of the empty garage bay, you now have 9.5k to buy more shave gear! Lol.

:Kudos to you Eric.  The milestones in life that suck the most can be the hardest to put behind you.  You came to grips with this one in a five star manner.  Just remember one thing:  With all that cash,  the next round is on you.  Smile

After trying several times over the last 18 months or so, and getting no interest, I have decided to sell my remaining brush knots on that big auction site. 15 various knots and one brush with a badger knot. If you are interested, search "lot of 15 shaving brush knots for details!

A couple of new items arrived this week so far, with 2 more expected. A new (to me) Tatara Masamune Dark finest badger brush (Semogue collaboration) and a Muhle STF knot from APSCo, that is setting up in a Trotter Handcrafts handle. The 2 expected items are Yaqi razor handles that I hope give me a better grip than the stock Romulus handle.

And, lest we have forgotten,...

Hope it is going well for you all!

And given we are supposed to receive a wintery mix (nice name for snow/rain/ice!), I was reminded of Fluffy and his reports from the field!

To be fair, Ken never did this sort of thing, but some folks he had to deal with sure seemed to asking for it!

Friday setup.

That is a Muhle STF 25mm knot from apshaveco set in a Trotter Handcrafts Supernova handle. I'll report how it works later!

I'm looking forward to your review Eric!

I considered these knots, but balked at trying it for now and decided to grab another TNS knot. I'll be curious to see if I need to revisit that notion, after your 'report'.

So these have the black plastic encasement around the glue base? Did you just bury it to the top of that encasement? I was sort of warned away from these, because of the rigid mounting requirements. However, it seems like an easier process, in that it has a big black plastic "guide" to tell you where to set it. Lol.

Nonetheless, I can't wait to hear what you think. Have a great day.

Here is a quick synopsis. It is dense, very comfy, and an added bonus was that it splayed very easily. I  plan to use it a bit and see if I can get a good comparison to the SynBad and the Wald. It is not springy like some  G5 knots. And not pokey either.

I found that I liked having that plastic cap. Paul Trotter did drill out the socket deep enough, so that worked nicely.  The concern is the size. It's 25mm, so too big for most 24mm handles unless some added wiggle room was added. I had 2 different 26mm handles, and the other one had too much wiggle room. The concern is will it pop out if treated without babying it.

In today's mail, two handles from Yaqi, which I hope will one of which will become The One for the Romulus head. I can use the original handle, but I worry about it slipping out of my grasp. And while alum can help, I am just not enamored with the original look of the handle.

On the left, an unnamed handle (well, it has a model number) in a matte finish, and on the right, the polished Milano handle.

The original is in the middle.

Other choices are the Razorock SS Halo (right) and the RR Thin bar handle (middle).

Yes, I have spent more on handles than the Romulus originally cost!! But that's how we roll, right?!  Cool
