Not many of us have Dave's fortitude. When it comes to moving along. So don't stress on that Eric. It's always nice to have alternatives and variety.  Stick with a new to you razor for a few days or a week to get comfortable with it. Then put it in some sort of rotation. That's what I do anyways. I now have a system of going through my razors and soaps in a rotation kind of way. But sometimes I enjoy a razor or soap so much that I "groundhog" it once or twice before moving to the next. There are no hard and fast rules. Thus the 1508.5 approach to killing a soap. 
That is a nice looking razor. Hope you and it get along well.

Not so sure about the wisdom there Dave. Usually more corny than wise.    I have an idea that even when Dave "thins the herd" he still needs a sizable ranch for the ones he keeps.

And speaking of cracked, my wife came in as I was rearranging my razors, finding the perfect placement of each in a lined box. I knew I was busted, as she was about to see just how many razors I have now. But, she just smiled and that was that. Whew! I felt like I was caught with my hand in the cookie jar!

Today I put the Nacet blade into the CB Karve with the B solid bar plate. Very nice shave. After the polishing it got from Alan, it just zips around the face, bordering on carefree. But prior to polishing, it could bite if I wasn't careful, and now I need to keep the seatbelt on, just in case I get carried away! It performs like the A plate did (pre-polishing). I am very pleased with the results, with that refreshed face feeling. Tomorrow I will most likely bring out the Blackbird again. I want to do some back to back work day shaves, looking both for longevity and lack of irritation. My experiences with the Karve C & D solid plates were closer shaves, but irritation if those plates used for back to back shaves. With the Vector, I was concerned that would happen as well, but it didn't, as I recall, as long as I had a light touch and was attentive, no wool-gathering while shaving!

These are my thoughts for my research as I learn how to use the Blackland Blackbird. First day of the back to back Blackbird shaves. After the Karve shave yesterday, I was again surprised at how "loud" the Blackbird is. And I do feel more blade, but I am surprised that it hasn't bothered me the way the Fatip Grande did, or the Old Type. I think, anyway, that is what I am meaning to describe. The Blackbird isn't harsh feeling to me, but I feel something that I don't experience with the Karve A or B plates. I believe I can get that feeling when I go to 7 or above on the Slim.

Also, today was the second use of Sterling beeswax unscented soap. Nice!

The Blackbird is not a comfortable razor in my opinion, but it gave me the most efficient and closest shaves I've ever had. I shave 6 days a week usually so for that reason I never bought one. It has blade feel aplenty and I found the sharp, angular design of the head to feel too harsh on the skin. I love the look of it though and as I said, the results were amazing. You just have to be mindful or it will bite. Just my 2 cents. I hope you end up liking it though.

The exact things that I've heard and kept me from getting it but some say smooth. YMMV is a scary thing on blind buys.......

After 3 daily shaves, I find myself in agreement with you two. Yesterday's shave was close, and while not exactly uncomfortable, it wasn't exactly as comfortable as other razors I have used.

Today's shave was with the Yates M 921. Great shave, great feeling during and after, and I figured out the 'bird probably isn't the best for me.
