I keep trying different blades in the Vector, but nothing has been as good as the Proline for my mug. All I have left in the Try A Blade sampler, the Feather Pro. Maybe a Kai original, too. I tried various "mild" and guarded blades, and all have felt rough. This morning was shave 8 on the Proline, very nice! Happy2

I know, I love the Bumble! He sits under the Poinsettia that stood in for a tree this year. Some people have that creepy elf that moves around the house, but we like to pull out the nostalgia from old shows and movies, and surprise each other!

I have to agree with the Proline. I used Feather Pros for a long time and then just these last couple weeks got the chance to try a Proline finally...no contest. I’ve been missing out this whole time! I do like the Feather Pros in my folding Feather SS but I had almost given up on the Vector with the occasionally less than enjoyable shaves they gave in the Vector.

Had to be up and out to bring my wife to a same day surgical procedure. All going well so far.

Based on some observations by Freddy and BBS I set the Parker adjustable injector to 5. Wow, I wasn't expecting that! Previously, 3 was mild and tame, and very comfortable. 4 seemed to be a little more aggressive feeling, and yielded a close shave. I expected 5 to follow suit, but instead it seemed deceptively mild while delivering a very close shave. I am very pleased! And this was the ninth shave on the blade, a Schick made in China.

I do have a question about single edge blade life. I have read many posts, but it seems to be all over the place for life of a blade. For the Vector, I plan to put in a fresh blade soon, as the Proline was in a slip from Try A Blade sampler. What do yous guys think about single edge blades and shave life? Truly a personal matter or should I expect a minimum number of shaves?

Thanks for reading! Have a great day.

Eric, while sometimes there seems to be general agreement on longevity of specific blade brands, I think there are too many variables.  Sometimes, a blade is flat out awful, starts out rough and stays that way.  Some blades mellow out after a shave or two.  Some start off great and then seem to die after a shave or two.  When it comes to single edge blades, they tend to be thicker and some believe they hold their edge longer.  Then, of course, there is one's skin and beard type, particular razor and blade pairing, and shaving technique.  I just find which blades work best and longest through recommendations and trial and error.
