Scentsless Shaver

What's the status, Steven?
You mean, with the Vector, Victor?

Roger, Roger. Tongue

The Proline came through!  The shave was that smooth, close, and audible experience I had come to expect from the Vector.  I had searched the interwebs for info on AC blades, and noted that several guys posted that the blade, in their opinions, had more to do with aggressiveness than the razor.  Or that at least, more than in a DE razor, blade choice could dramatically change the shave.  My limited trial of 3 different blades seems to bear that out. Shane rates the Vector, on the Blackland site, as a 5/10 for aggressiveness. If I had never tried Dave's with his recommended best blade for his face, and only gone with blade marketed as mild, I would have blamed the Vector and either never bought one or immediately put this up in the BST.  My DE blade trials were nothing like this; in fact, I gave up after a bit as I had some blades I really liked and only a couple that were bad, but most would be totally fine in my razors.  Especially as my technique got better. Maybe I'll find that to be the case with the Vector, but for now, I will stick with Schick, in both my SE razors!

Which reminds me, back in my misspent youth, for some reason known only to my dear Mom, Santa brought my brother and I a Foster Brookes comedy album. Some who read will know the Lovable Lush.  Being young lads, we found eructations and flatulence to be hilarious. And this album delivered in spades!  But, one bit that still resides in the ol' memory banks is Foster watching his wife prepare chicken for dinner.  She was having such a hard time with all the feathers to be removed.

[an aside: after a heart attack when he was only 34, my Dad's doctor said limit the red meat intake. As a family, we moved to lots of chicken and fish. Dad had hated chicken, having helped as a youngster in the late 40's and early 50's at his uncles farm. To this day, he says nothing smells worse to him than chicken coops and having to pluck and butcher one!]

So Foster thinks on this, and offers his wife his razor. It does the job fantastically!  So he send off a letter to the company, and tells the audience that soon there will be a man's Schick, a Woman's Schick,........................and......................................

Since I am on a vacation from work, I seem to have started shaving in the late afternoon to early evening. Anywho, tonight's shave was better than yesterday, and just like I remembered from the other Schick Proline shaves. Color me happy!

Wrapping up the Stay-cation, trying to get back into the swing of morning shaves. Opted for the Parker adjustable injector these past two shaves. After almost a week of the Vector, I found that the setting I previously thought of as "up there" seemed mild! While the shaves were very comfortable and even promoting less attention, they were not as close as the Vector. Nonetheless, I am enjoying the Parker, and the break from the Karve (something I thought I'd never say).

In other news, I signed up for the Yates pass around. I wanted to see what the excitement is all about,

Have a good day and thanks for reading!

Late late afternoon shave, so dialed the parker back to 3, which provided a comfy shave, and feels really good! Tomorrow, it's back to work, and I plan to use the Vector. I was afraid to use the Vector today and then again in 14-15 hours, so I went mild. Once I get better acquainted with the Vector, I'll experiment more on timings between shaves. Two days in a row with the Karve C or D plate made for an irritated face, even with 24 hrs b/t shaves.

When shaving multiple days in a row with the Vector, a light touch is definitely needed IMO...because in most cases there is next to nothing to actually shave!

This just in!!

Received photos from AlanH81 on the first Karve set up (funny story there, I'll come back to it later). This is the Gladius handle, B safety bar plate, and the wide body cap.

Now the funny (to me) story: I think I have only one Karve, with some plate options, the wide body and original cap, as well as adding the Gladius handle this past year. So when I was preparing my stuff for shipment, I realized that it is actually TWO razors!  I still believe I only have one razor with options, but reality begs to differ!!
