Have you ever dreamed about something having to do with shaving? I had a dream last night in which I discovered that I had an unlabeled aftershave, in a white bottle, about which I could remember nothing. It smelled too good to just throw out, but I was too embarrassed to post about it and ask for help in identifying it or to include it in my SOTD pictures as a "Mystery Aftershave," so I didn't know what to do with it. Strange...

My dream is to be able to get a shaving edge on my traditional kamisori, which has proven to be exceptionally difficult...

But more to the point of the topic...I have had BAD dreams involving shaving. Namely, in my dream, my beard is gone, and I don't know it until I catch a glimpse of myself in a window or mirror as I pass by. The effect of this dream is very traumatic for me. The last 6 months or so have seen a dramatic decrease in frequency, but for the first 12 months of growing, it was a devastating nightmare that I would wake from with a gasp and a cold sweat!

I used to think that recurring dreams were a fallacy.  However, about a year after moving from Toledo, Ohio to San Diego, California I started having a recurring dream that I had moved back to Toledo.  The dreams might vary slightly but the theme was always the same, that I moved back.  Like you, Chris, I was quite traumatized by them and I had them, on and off, for years and years after I moved here.  I still go back to visit friends, occasionally, but San Diego is home and I have no thoughts of moving back so I never understood those recurring dreams.

Ironically, I have now moderated on three shaving sites and I cannot remember ever having a shave related dream, either single or recurring.  Go figure. Rolleyes

I dreamed I was in a razorblade plant with my service 1911. Mantic was standing behind me whispering 'shoot him and free us all ! as this guy with a huge floor mounted lever was squirting four wax drops on blades. I tried pulling the trigger and nothing. My 1911 was dripping with wax and inoperative. I can trace the element of an inoperative sidearm to buying
a lot of surplus at a Pasadena garage sale and discovering a 38 Victory Smith entombed in cosmolene and wax paper since WW2. The rest I blame on Mark's subliminal advertising on Sharpologist and thai food.

Thats a variation on the dream that you're being pursued by some monster and finding yourself with legs of lead running in sand trying to get safely home only to find that your house is no longer where it is meant to be. Wax spots will do that to you Big Grin
