The Deets-
Great late morning shave today. Did I mention that I am on vaca this week? That’s right, trying to burn more vacation time so I don’t lose it. Anyway, it was a great shave. I dig the scent of this Moon soap and the Avon Oland is a winner too. I went with three easy passes and I am BBS for the win! And the Oland wrapped everything up nicely. Life is good!

Home Front-
As I mentioned, I am on vaca again. Not going anywhere special, just bumming around and working on my honey do list. I am really struggling with my shave den at the moment. I have been downsizing in all areas to reduce my inventory. Hardware wise, I am pretty much where I want to be. But I am struggling in the soap/aftershave area. I still have sets that I would like to eliminate and I have a few things I’d like to pick up. But I’d like to get that collection down to 10 sets and that is a challenge. I still would like to add a few SV sets to the line up, but the prices make my wallet dry heave. I guess I am just frugal. Hm … decision, decisions … first world problems.

Casino Royale was on deck today. I dig the scent of this one and it’s missus approved as well. Three smooth passes and I am BBS for the win! Great shave! Wrapped everything up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain. Yup, this one is staying in the rotation. Life is good!

The Deets-
So I mainly use The Fat when I have an aftershave with no matching soap. Such was the case today with the soothing scent of Lavender. Grabbed the Tech, just because and had a great shave. Three smooth passes and I am BBS for the win! A healthy splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Very nice shave. I had bought Ethos set for the missus, but she doesn’t us the AS, so that was a win for me. Life is good!

Home Front-
So I am enjoying the staycation, but it is wrapping up fast. Today I didn’t do much. There was some cleanup in the lean to. Had to repair the kitchen sink for the missus and took the Bulldog to the Vet. She seems to have overactive allergies and requires a shot quarterly to clear things up.

Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
(This post was last modified: 11-20-2021, 09:47 PM by MaineYooper.)
Hey Tim! The Zenith boar you so graciously gifted me has been revived. I had feared I ruined it for me by trying a commercial brush cleaner on it. When I received the brush, the bristles retained some scent from soaps used previously. I thought I could smell that when I had the brush standing on the counter. My wife never commented, but to be safe I thought I should clean the brush.  Idea

Well, I mistakenly ordered a product after only speed-reading the description, and then didn't rinse it well enough. So the 'mild' cleaners made my face react!  Angry

On advice given in my journal, I lathered the brush a couple of times with scent-free soap, and soaked it for hours over the last couple of days.

Today, I am pleased to report that all is well! The brush performed well for this morning's shave. It did eat lather again, but I just went back to the puck.  Happy2 I am so happy to have undone my mess! I was feeling very bad that I had messed up something from a friend. Thanks again for helping start me down the boar hole!

I’m sorry I should have told you, I did clean it and then gave it a shampoo lather. That will cause it to eat soap. But use will bring it back. Glad you brought it back from the edge. I think once it starts to shine, you will like it.

So I decided to break out the fancy stuff today. No special occasion, as a matter of fact I was working on honey do’s today. But the shave sounded nice and the warm lather was amazing. Three smooth passes and I am BBS for the win! Damn that was nice! One of these days, I will pick up a few more SV soaps. Wrapped everything up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! I could get used to fancy. Life is good!
