Welcome to the April 2020 Newsletter

First and foremost, I hope that everyone is okay, keeping well, staying safe and coping at least OK with the disruption COVID-19 is pitching your way.
Production Update

I inspected all the assembled razors. Some (~1/2) did not pass the inspection criteria. The assembly shop and I came up with a plan to disassemble, clean those parts and then reassemble. I will be present to help with assembly.[https://ci6]Project Schedule

As a result of the assembly rework, there is a change in the shipping date - May 6th.[https://ci4]As always, do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions. Feel free to share. Keep well and stay safe.

Cheers!
Janus

Excellent. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the man. As Dragonsbeard has stated previously in this thread, it’s Eric’s name and reputation on the line here. The outcome of these limited edition razors with the first 51 that purchased them can determine whether Janus Razors will be in business in the near future or not. Mad props to Eric Janus Razors for sticking to his guns and promise to deliver an impeccably produced product regardless of the slight delays this project has incurred. If it were me, I’d have the same mind set. Nothing leaves until it’s perfect. On it like White on Rice.....

Hey Eric Janus Razors since you have been meticulous and transparent in your manufacturing of the Janus why not post a video of assembling/disassembling the Janus since you are doing that now for the most recent quality control. We are all aware of the complexity of the Janus which was probably the main reason Gillette discontinued the original Toggle and replaced it with the FatBoy/195 over 55 years ago. Many have seen Cap repair a Toggle but it would be interesting to see how it's done with the Janus.

On a similar note what will be the plan going forward regarding warranty/service (unlikely given your obsessive management so far) - will you be doing it or will it be going out somewhere else as we all know who the "master" is for Toggles.

Good questions. I think I read somewhere Eric would offer a tune-up service for the Janus.

CAP is indeed the man. Here is a link to his disassembly of my Chrome Toggle. It is the only one he ever did...and the only Chrome Toggle Chris Evatt ever plated. It is 1 of the last 3 Toggles the men did. My 24kt D1 is another of the 3. I believe Frank Dragonsbeard has the very last one they did. His is in rhodium.

Interesting question. My guess is "not unless someone backed out". I sure the first 51were all sold prior to production.

I hope he will post a video, very looking forward to see assembling/disassembling process.

I think he’ll likely avoid it. I remember reading there were pictures he avoided posting as they showed some of the key pieces he created. A “trade secrets” kind of thing. Not sure though.
