Good morning Eric,
Hope all is well with you and yours. Firstly I would like to ask, have the 51 been set? And if not, how late can you go in terms of still making the late January deadline for product delivery?

I have 8 to go. I have already spoken with the two main manufacturing partners about this, and we have already identified areas to claw back time to still meet the mid January delivery.

The latest to make the mid-January timeline is for all orders to be in by end of the month.

Thanks Eric for your quick response. I look forward to seeing this razor come to fruition. I have no doubt that that will be the case. Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind it one bit if you did not make the projected delivery target date. You have been quite transparent with your informational updates from day one concerning the Janus Toggle and I see no reason that you would not continue in keeping those involved fully informed of the progress or any potential delays down the road (fingers crossed that all goes smoothly). Thanks for taking on the challenge in making one of the more iconic and technically sophisticated safety razors in history....

The latest news update from Janus.......

In the August 2019 Newsletter – A quick word on refunds and pre-orders, a brief update on production, and a look at the project schedule.

Project Schedule

The ball is rolling on production. I’m stoked that the Janus is becoming a reality.

On Thursday this week, I placed the purchase order for the near-net-shape blanks that will be milled to the final form for use in the razor head sub-assembly. I also placed the order on the milling, assembly and laser marking fixtures.

Placing an order means that the Janus parts get on the production queue and will start to work their way up.

The machine shop and I spent a significant amount of time working on the order in which the “Swiss” parts will be machined.

This is important as it structures an efficient order to machine the components to claw back some time since I ran behind in securing all the pre-orders. There are a lot of components being machined, so gaining ½ day here and there because of an efficient machining order will add up.

I also went back and re-negotiated reduced lead times than I had been given in the quotes. All said, this is the effort to recoup 3 weeks to still meet the Mid-January 2020 schedule.

All the serial #s have been pre-ordered! Thanks a ton to all who pre-ordered!

The shop making the blanks that get milled for use in the razor head emailed me today saying they discussed the Janus razor parts in their production meeting today. This means these parts have moved up the queue such that they will be up soon.

Congrats on filling your preorders Eric. How will people get on your waitlist for this or for the later standard release ? I’m sure at some point others will want to jump in.

Best of luck. AJ
