Janus vs Blackland Blackbird Jet
Disclaimer I am not receiving anything for these reviews other than a chance to try the Prototype
When I got the razor at the PO this am my first impression was you could tell it was designed and built by an engineer with no one stepping in and saying if you trim this or skimp on this we will save money. The Janus appears to be built like a tank. It looks like a large razor but it’s balance and maneuverability were surprisingly very good. On with the comparison
Pre Shave - Hot Shower
Soap PannaCreama Nuavia Green
Brush Brad Sears Ebonite Pug
Blades New Polsilver
Post Shave Thayers Lemon followed by C&S Neroli
I had a 3 day beard as I expected the Razor either Thursday or Friday and didn’t shave. Razor arrived Sat AM

First Pass WTG
Both razors handled the 3 day growth without any difficulty I used the Janus on my left and the Jet on my right. There was more blade feel from the Jet and although the Jet was smooth the Janus was significantly smoother on setting 9. After the pass I did a quick rinse and face feel and found both took down the majority of my beard in 1 Pass but the Janus was slightly ahead especially on my neck.
2nd Pass XTG
For me this Pass is South to North on my neck but ear to nose on my face. Again the smoothness of the Janus on setting 9 was impressive both razors gave me a good Pass and when it was done I was BBS on my cheeks and part of my neck on the Janus side and DFS everywhere else while the Jet gave me BBS on my cheek only. Still a very comfortable shave to this point by both razors.
3rd Pass ATG
This is South to North on my face but ears to Adams Apple on my neck.
With this pass the Jet had a couple of spots on my neck where it skipped a little, this is not an unusual occurrence for me with many razors I have tried   The Janus still on setting 9 had no difficulty ATG.
End result was BBS everywhere with my normal 3 pass shave. I found the Janus to be surprisingly smooth especially at level 9. I had no issues using it under my nose I just need to push up on my nose and it worked great.
I really want to see if I could use Level 9 as a daily shave or if I am going to have to dial down after a few days in a row. As a comparison I can use my Wolfman .94 WR1 for about 3 days in a row before I need to switch or I will get irritated.
Here are a few pics, they are not that great as I have been pressed for time. I took one with the Janus hanging on my storage shelf next to a Slim, Fatboy and Toggle.

Mark an excellent review and the results don’t surprise me with either razor showing there shaving capabilities.

All I’ll say is wait till you put a Feather in the Janus. I found the Polsilver to be the least efficient in the Janus of the 3 blades I used in my time with it. Kai took it up a notch and the Feather a step up from that.

Hope you have the time before the show to run it against both the Ti RS 10! Also the .94 WR1 as I didn’t have the time to. Darn it took longer than normal to get to you!

Oh and the photos look fine!

That was a great review Mark. I really like the picture of all 4 on the shelf. I would like to see what it is like on 7 and how much efficiency it loses and how much the smoothness goes up. Friday is coming fast. To bad Frank hogged up the time with the Janus. HAHA JUST KIDDING. Looking forward to your next review.
Happy shaves

24 hours and there is palpable stubble, slightly more on the Blackbird side. Anyone who shaves daily knows this next shave is the tough one, to much aggression and guaranteed razor burn, not enough and it’s tough to get BBS.
Janus on 4 vs Timeless .68SB
Pre shave Hot Towel
Blades Polsilver 2nd use
Soap Murphy & McNeil Triskele
Brush DG B7
AS M&M Triskele
I gave the Janus my right side today and the Timeless my left.
1st Pass WTG
The .68 was very smooth and nearly effortless WTG as I cleared off my left side. I picked up the Janus and started my right side on Lev 4, I truly could not feel the blade but I could hear it cutting down the stubble with ease. Both sides were a very smooth shave with just a slight advantage to the Janus. Did a cold rinse and feel and the Janus definitely took down more stubble.
2nd Pass ATG
When I have such little amount of growth I skip XTG and go right to ATG and these 2 razors had no problem doing it. Both were very smooth ATG and provided good audible feedback. I needed to do a little buffing with the Timeless on the jawline and under my nose. The Janus smoothly did the right side and no buffing was required. Quick rinse and called in the judge, my wife, who had no idea what razor or side was done and she said the right side was BBS smooth and the left was close but not as good. I relathered the left and did some pickups and got the “That’s really good” from the wife.
I have always found the 68 to be very smooth but always need a few pickups to get BBS. The Janus on 4 was smoother and gave me a 2 pass Wife tested BBS. I think that sums up this shave off.

Thanks for the review!
Will you be comparing it to a .95 timeless?
I have to admit, the Janus is getting more and more appealing as time goes on.....

Thank you Gentleman for your kind words. Quick update: the 2 razors today only gave me about 8 hours before the stubble started to return, if tonight was date night I would have needed a quick shave.
