That is positive news altho a DB will set you back $240...and probably resale won't be a problem.

Yeah, but Janus looks more attractive. Smile

And it is very unique as a modern reincarnation of the Toggle rather than just another 3 piece homage to the Gillette Tech

When I compared Janus with Taiga. I used both Taiga at 4/6 and Janus at 4/9.
Janus was more efficient, had higher blade feel and was less smooth.
More like Janus 4 (over 9) = Taiga 5-6 (over 6)
Janus at 1 is a mid-aggressive razor (not a mild razor) is more like Taiga 3/6.

When you set Janus dial, you may think the dial equal to +4.
I mean; Janus 1 is more like 5 (1+4 = 5).
1 = 5; 2 = 6; 3 = 7; 4 = 8; 5 = 9
If you compare Janus at 5 with prototype at 9, you might get similar shave.

I believe more positive reviews will come, when members start dialing it down.

Okay. Got my first shave in. I didn't get any of the blade chatter that others have mentioned. Mine locked the blade down tight. I started on a 5 for my first pass. Lots of blade feel at that setting. Dropped to a 3 for the second, and a 1 for the final pass. Nice smooth shave no irritation. I was using an Astra blade on its third and final use. Mike's Natural Soap.

There were a few moments where I had trouble locating the blade angle, but this is always the case with a butterfly head for me. I'm sure I'll get used to things after a couple of shaves. The doors align perfectly.

The fit and finish are good on my razor. I agree 100% with others who've mentioned the red dots aren't applied correctly. They are a bit sloppy and the razor would have been better off without them. Maybe just the two dots on the bottom of the razor to set the first run apart? Or, it would have been cool to have the dial in the black or gold coating that was originally planned. Another thing, the numbers on the dial are not great. They are light and don't feel like they belong on a premium razor. This is being a bit picky, but at the price point I feel like you should be a bit picky. Otherwise the finish on the razor is fine.

The toggle is springy and fun to use. I can see the appeal of the original toggle.

The Janus is definitely different from all the other razors in my collection. I'm happy to have it in the den. Also, super pleased Eric brought things together. Lots of people on the forums have given him garbage from the get go, so kudos to him for realizing his vision and doing something different from the standard three piece razor. Glad I backed the project! I do think there are some adjustments I'd make, but overall I'm pleased with the Janus.

I will try to send the razor back to Eric, to request dissemble and assemble the razor in order to:
Fix the uneven doors,
My dials not exactly matching with the red dot, needs to be fixed,
if it is possible, I will ask for additional polishing to toggle knob in order to remove machine marks,
Last thing, I will appreciate if he can repaint all red colors better. Mine is poorly done.

Then, my razor gonna be perfect.

I received my razor on Monday 6/1 and shaved with it. It is a beautifully made razor but for me even though I like blade feel I still need more smoothness and this gave me a great shave but it wasn't smooth enough for me. I spoke to Eric and he will take care of the situation for me, he is a wonderful person, honest and truthful and I will always give him my full support

Andrew I’m very curious how is Eric going to make changes so it’s a smoother shaver?

This coincides with my thoughts. Eric is a gentleman. He fully understood my issue with the blade feel being too much for me and promptly issued a refund. I really wanted to like this razor and support his endeavor.

Reworking the razor to give it a smaller dome must've given the razor a lot of blade exposure.

I wonder if retrofitting with higher domed doors would make any difference... I am by no means an engineer, just a curious individual.
