Shampoo Bar

I buy them from Lush, here in Spain, but they use SLS as main ingredient, like any commercial shampoo. Scent is what I like the most. After use it I rinse my head, add some vinager for a minute and rinse again. People says is good for the scalp. I have no idea.

For overall quality on my hair and scalp, I prefer Mike's shampoo bars. However, I have to note that they certainly do not last long. Whatever the reason - something to do with ingredients or composition - they dissolve away significantly faster with use than other bars.

I noticed that Mike's shampoo bars seem to dissolve faster, too. I had some Mystic Water shampoo bars and was able to snag a couple travel size shampoo bars from Mike's. I split the bars from Mystic Water, so they were about the same size as Mike's travel size. The bars from Mike's Natural Soaps didn't last as long as MW. The shampoo bars from these two artisans are the only shampoo bars I have tried to date.

I use whatever artisan bath soap I'm using to also wash my hair.  so far, I haven't seen any negatives with doing this.

I came to this realization last night. I saw Mike's was taking preorders for shampoo bars but I was only able to order one. I wasnt going to pay ~$10.50 with shipping for 1 bar. I checked today and the preorders are sold out. I'm guessing there was no limit set, but that there were a limited number of preorders. So, as test, I started using my Stirling bars this morning and so far so good. It lathers quite well and hair feels nice. I think I like this simpler method of one bar.

I've been using Stirling or Mystic Water bath bars in my hair for the last few months with similar results as a dedicated "shampoo" bar. As long as I do a vinegar rinse every other time or so to get rid of build-up, they work great.

Today I used my last sliver of a Mike's shampoo bar, so tomorrow I am going to try a new bar from The Country Escape, with tea tree, rosemary, and shea butter. The Country Escape also makes shaving soaps, which I also have not tried, and dog shampoo bars (for flea control!). They have an Etsy outlet too.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just ordered more shampoo bars. I'm down to my last bar, so great timing.

I use Lisa's Natural Aduvardic shampoo bar. It's almost gone and lasted a rediculously long time (8-9 months) plus it's chalk full of excellent natural ingredients.

The African black soaps that can be found at beauty supply stores also works great for a shampoo bar. It's basically a lathering bar of shea butter. Great stuff.

I just got a bunch of shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley and the soap-nuts one I'm using now is fantastic. They're a little more expensive but the bars are huge and feel like they'd last longer (being a harder soap).
