I think it was reduced very shortly after this thread was started. when I looked at the listing a day or two ago, it was at the price you mentioned.

the market will flesh it out - either it'll sell or it won't. if it does, that helps establish the market prices.

Yo, someone mentioned me in the first thread. When I started on forums I had no idea buying for full asking price was taboo. Watch forums, bike forums, and coin forums all try to get top dollar. The shaving world was different. Once I got called out (I never lied or tried to hide I was reselling because I didn't know it was against the hobby) I completely stopped buying from forums to resell. I have not done that since the thread on Shavenook when I got banned. I even settled scores with some people I bought from.
This was not my doing. I know who it was but it's not my place to call them out, I'll let the seller do that.

In the past I sold one Paladin on eBay that I bought on Facebook. I told the buyer I could pay them back and they declined and said what's done is done. I even spoke with Ken and explained I was unaware of resell taboo. The forums made that clear. I have also since spoken with Ken through email and added 3 Paladins to my personal collection. I also promised Ken I wouldn't sell for more than retail if I choose to get rid of one.

It's not. If you buy for full price and others don't like it, then they don't have to participate on the forums. If they say you could have gotten a better deal elsewhere, or that the asking price was high, that is something different altogether. If they have the nerve to criticize you, personally for buying an item, then Santa might well leave them a lump of coal and some reindeer poop in their stocking.

There isn't any such taboo. Once you buy something, it's yours, and the seller doesn't have boo to say about what you do with your possessions. If they get out of place and try to pull such nonsense, then they need to seriously mind their own business. It would be like the previous owner of your car trying to tell you how much you could sell it for and where you could drive it.

Sometimes the forums don't make much of anything clear, and can get quite silly. OK, most of the time,. . Besides, forums of any sort are hardly the arbiters of proper conduct or societal norms.

It's all good, though, and nothing to worry about.

The only thing is, there will never be agreements. I've had some people say it's fair game to buy for full price and sell higher elsewhere. Some people say that is wrong but it's okay to buy from artisans for cheap and sell expensive aftermarket. Some people don't agree with that either. Some people say if you want to resell, then you should buy on eBay and resell there too. Others say you can only sell for cheaper than retail or you are a bad person.
I've learned to just not but on forums unless you are sure you want to keep them. I recently bought a timeless razor set on a Facebook group. I was not sure if I was going to keep it since I haven't used one before. I told the seller loud and clear that my intention was to try them and I'd possibly be selling them if I don't like them.
I don't buy much hardware anymore to avoid conflicts. My last several purchases have been straight from the artisans.

I guess if you are selling for less than market value and will be pissed if it's resold, then say this in your listing "selling at a discounted price for another hobbyist to enjoy. Do not but from me if you intend to resell for profit". Then if the buyer resells, they look like a jackass. If nothing like this is mentioned then they are just a regular capitalist. My two cents.

Shavenook has the exact policy on their rule book. And you violated that, which made you look like exactly what you mentioned. There is no need for every BST add to say that explicitly.

DFS has no rule like that, if you, the OP, or the buyer who bought from OP to flip it at ebay, it is perfectly fine.

I, and assume a few others can see the benefit of both approaches ( keeping a friendly place and discourage flipping, or the DFS route - keep it simple). Who prefers which more should be proved by their participation - don't like it? Don't join, discuss, buy/sell at that place.

Fair enough, but I read their sticky note that says  "new rule for selling, read before posting". In their post it says "Sellers wishing to turn a profit should sell on Ebay, a similar auction site, or their own website." This is exactly what I did. It may seem clear to you but at the time I read it meaning that you can't buy and resell on their forum... If you want to buy and make a profit then you need to resell on eBay.
Yes that may seem obvious now that that is not what was meant, but me coming from a coin forum, buying on the forum then selling elsewhere was not malicious. I spoke to many people who were upset because I had no idea. One guy sold me a razor and asked if I was selling it on eBay. I told him straight up yes. I would have made up some story if I was being shady.
Seriously, if anyone would have taken the time to message me on TSN and speak to me, everything could have been sorted out. Instead, I was attacked on several forums without  anyone trying to trade a real conversation with me. Luckily there are some real people on this forum that recognize that people make mistakes. I've settled some scores and made some friends. I've PIF'd items and also loaned out razors to members and given free samples to try to become a better member of this community. I'm kind of tired of being painted as a villain. We're adults, but some people sure didn't seem like it.

If I have something I don't need, I'll PIF it or store it away to try again (or PIF) another day. Someday I might sell off a bunch of stuff as part of a mass den clearing. Or I might not. I prefer not to make commerce part of my shaving hobby. Others may differ, which is fine by me.

Same here. I have a bunch of stuff I'm not using, I'll just revisit them again someother time. Don't wish to deal with the hassle of selling, after all I am not in the CONUS anyway. I will just freak about packages being lost and whatnot.
