No, I don't. Most of the time, a blade can be refreshed with either a balsa strop and abrasive powders, or going to the 12k. I rarely go to the 10k, even for touchups...

This was done more for the demonstration of it. This blade could probably have been OK with just a refreshing, but for the sake of proving a point, I wanted to make it dull, and show how I do it.

Chris, I am really finding this interesting, even though I don't use a straight.

If I may make a suggestion, though I am not sure it is even possible with the layout of what I assume is your bathroom.  From the look of the video, you seem to be right handed.  It would help quite a bit (at least for me) if the camera could be mounted on the left, rather than the right.  For much of the demonstration, all we saw was your hand going back and forth, rather than the blade.  Since you stressed how to hold and place the blade, it would have been helpful to see that.  Again, it may not even be possible for you to do that and perhaps it didn't bother others.  

Not knowing exactly how blades are honed, I found this very interesting and I shall look forward to the next installment.  Thank you.

I switched the camera angle in the next video, for exactly that reason, Freddy . After getting this video off the memory card and letting the battery charge in the camera for a little bit, I watched this video and moved the camera for the next 2...

Setting the bevel using circles certainly gives me more consistent results than X-strokes, alone.

Good bevel setting demo, I think a lot of people are doing the circular rather than the X pattern. It goes a lot faster and you have a better sense of how sharp the blade is getting as you go. As it relates to flattening, the 1k needed to be flattened eveytime I used it but as i got to the higher stones, I could go a couple sessions without flattening. Probably since you spend less time on each stone as you progress from the 1k.
