My understanding is The Shave Nook will be no more after the site was hit with an ADA lawsuit. There's a guy in his area targeting businesses with ADA lawsuits looking for easy money. Keeping The Shave Nook going via Facebook isn't anything I've heard of happening. He let it be known earlier this year that he was finishing one last brush run.

It's the best badger/boar mix brush out there, but to be fair, no one is honestly competing for that market. Vulfix is the only alternative really that I know of, and it pales in comparison to the knot Semogue produces, but again, to be fair, Vulfix uses pure badger and boar and not 2-band Finest and boar. It's been a while since I've used mine, but I do enjoy the combo.

Hey Marko I have had the Semogue Mistura and also the mixed APSCo knot (called the Luxury mix by Andrew). I had the Mistura first, but it was in a handle that I didn't like, so when I got a handle that needed a knot, I put the Luxury knot into it. Bottom line, I sold the Mistura (mainly due to handle color: orange/butterscotch??) and just used the Luxury knot this morning.
I believe the Semogue is a 50:50 mix, whereas Andrew's is a 70:30 mix (badger to boar). And while I love Semogue boars, the badger hair in the Mistura I had seemed to "pokey" for my delicate visage (that is self-directed sarcasm!). I now have an SOC badger (Taj) and it is the pokiest of all my badgers.
Now take this with a grain of salt, as I prefer ubersoft synthetics, so my pokey could be normal! But my badger knots from Maggards, TGN, and Shave Forge are not pokey.
