Semogue Brushes

I’m a big fan of Semogue brushes, particularly the boar brushes. I think they’re excellent value and excellent performers as well. The knots and handles come in various sizes. The smaller knots are great at loading off some of the smaller soap containers like MDC or Le Pere  Lucien and lately they’ve been making some nice resin handles too.  I saw a new (to me) model in Italian Barber recently, the Galahad-C3 premium boar and I had to get one. In each of the style of boar bristle. Under Cdn$29 too. How can you go wrong. These brushes are very nice. No funky smell snd break in nicely. The blonde has been used 3x and the Badger dyed boar is new unused. And I love the red resin handles. 

Those look great. I’ve got a Semogue Owners Club Taj Resin brush that’s absolutely the best boar I’ve ever used. Took awhile to break in but once it did, what a joy to use. I need to pick up another one. Thanks for the reminder!

Semogue’s boar bristles are top quality. If you soak the bristles in warm (not hot) water for 10-15 minutes before using it makes a big difference. Also commit to using the brush every shave for a couple of weeks and the break in is a breeze.   I’ve tried the multi day cold water soak technique for break in and I’m my opinion, with Semogue it doesn’t make a difference. They must pretreat the bristles as there is virtually no stink and break in is so easy. And I haven’t lost a single bristle on this Galahad-C3 yet.

I love the 1305 as well. I recently dropped mine and put a small chip in the handle. It buffed smooth and is fine but I did buy a backup just in case. 

The boar bristles that Semogue uses and dyes to resemble badger take a bit longer to break in but they’re every bit as wonderful as the blonde bristles they use.
