Schick Type O Shaves

That was a great deal with an O getting nearly what he wanted for the lot. It was tough restraining myself saying I didn't need a backup

Had my first shave with a Schick type O. Excellent outcome loaded with a fresh Schick Twin injector blade. I was taken aback by the relative heft of the Type O versus all of my other Schick injectors but enjoyed the balanced weight. I am monitoring BBS duration and hoping for something commensurate with the Adjustable M and twin blade. I am going to have complete a shave off between the M, N, and O, each loaded with twin blades.

The actual rare razor is the Type L in the case. That handle design is the first one I've ever seen like that. Usually the 2 lines go to the end of the white handle. With that said it is still a 1972 Type L so nothing special in how it shaves.

I knew that the Olympic could fetch 100+ on eBay to the right person.

The actual rare razor is the Type L in the case. That handle design is the first one I've ever seen like that. Usually the 2 lines go to the end of the white handle. With that said it is still a 1972 Type L so nothing special in how it shaves.

Just because there are RARER razors doesn't make the O NOT a rare razor......

What is interesting is that I have always wanted one of the "championship" style schick handles. Every time I saw one available it was either partially worn or at a price point that didn't make sense, knowing the shave outcome from that variant was probably not the most exceptional. Maybe because it resonated with my childhood years and its Evil Knievel esque theme, I still always wanted one as a guilty pleasure. So having a related variant included was definitely another bonus of the lot. I still am having a debate whether to open the package and enjoy the fun of having a shave with that razor, or keeping it preserved as is. But I have a feeling I will be using the razor

It is still just a standard Type L with a unique paint job. It is not a +$100 razor, no Type L is.

I'd just go buy another 72 or earlier Type L and shave with that unless it is going to be your razor and not a razor passing through your hands.

Technically a Type O is scarce not rare. They made lots of them but very few exist still. That Type L on the other hand is unique in design and quantity produced.

I have now had 7 shaves with the Schick O and Schick twin blade combination and 4 shaves with the Schick N1 and Schick twin blade combination. Between the two, I currently favor the Schick O for what I perceive is a satisfying effectiveness with high comfort. I look forward to reaching for the Schick O and the outcomes that can be achieved.

The N1 can also be effective but it requires a bit more effort which can lead to some mild feedback on the neck and jawline. When I have backed off on touch ups or pressure it still results in a solid shave but not as strong on BBS duration or coverage. For balance, the N1 is still a nice shaver overall with the Schick twin blade and some of the feedback may be a technique issue that will improve with more runtime. ( As a side note, I did get one shave in with the N1 and a conventional Schick injector blade. I needed to start with that blade to feed in the twin variant. I tried injecting the twin with no blade installed and it was seemingly impossible. )

I am working both razors up to a blade reuse count that matches up with my M1 and Schick twin blade. I then plan to conduct a more formal side by side comparison. But I am fairly certain the Schick O will lead on comfort and effectiveness. The Schick O also tied with the La Faulx for my most used razor in July. Needless to say, I am enjoying the O quite a bit.
