Very nice. But I hoped that the scent for the soap and AS was the same as for the Extrait. I'd had been paying extra money with happiness.

New bottles look great.

However, the current salve containers kick ass in the looks department. Getting a makeup container vibe from the new salve container.

I know.....if all the worlds problems came down to a salve container.

Keep killing it mate. Looking forward to the St. Patrick's Day release.

Most people would not pay what I would have to charge to do that.

Plus, I put it at a 40% concentration in the extrait for good reason. I feel that the scent presents itself best that way. Obviously, the concentration in an aftershave is a mere fraction of that. And then it would be a colossal waste of money to put that scent in a soap because all the nuances of the expensive ingredients would be destroyed by a soap base.

Finally, this is not the first time I have released Santal Auster in shaving products. There are many people who would be disappointed if I did not stay true to the scent as it was previously. So I gave it a facelift, not a renovation.

I apologize if you are disappointed, but the reasons to do it this way far, far outweigh the reasons to put the extrait scent in the shaving products.

Thank you! Also, I was definitely trying to go with more of a cosmetics vibe with the salve container, so double thank you!

Also, you better believe I'll be ready for a few Guinnesses and Jamesons after all is said and done!

Once again, I must sing the praises of the new design across the products (toner, salve, aftershave, and parfum).  I think it is a huge leap forward from your earlier labels and hope it attracts even more people to the product inside.

It will be in an eau de toilette. I wrote a blog about determining which scent concentration to use, but to give the Cliff Notes for this instance, I am going with eau de toilette because of the light, fruity nature of the scent. Since anything citrusy is naturally fleeting, pumping it up to an eau de parfum level would perhaps throw off the structure of what I'm trying to go for, giving more emphasis to the rose and patchouli notes. Like my other eau de toilette, it will be at a concentration level (15%-ish, depending on where I land) that could be considered eau de parfum, but due to the performance and type of scent that Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli is, I think it performs more like you would expect an eau de toilette to perform.

The parfum line will more more complex and nuanced, scents, featuring the finest raw ingredients available, that lend themselves to a stronger concentration. They will be made just as much for the sake of olfactory art as they will be made for wearability.

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of all my fragrances (or else I would never let them see the light of day), but if I were to have made something like Santal Auster for the Provisions line, it would have been totally different due to budgetary restraints to keep it at that $60 price point.

Also, thank you so much on the labels. I may or may not have spent a while basking in my happiness last night looking at them. I do feel like the Provisions labels are still really great and reflective of the line in their rustic apothecary style, but the complex modernism merged with an old-fashioned emphasis on typography on these new labels I believe really reflects exactly what I am striving for with the Parfums line.

Shawn, thank you so much for the detailed and honest reply.  It makes it so much easier to understand the nuances of what goes into your products and I, for one, find it only enhances my appreciation, even if a scent isn’t quite up my street.  I am so looking forward to the Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli Eau de Toilette.  The small sample you let me test is all but gone and I keep that one drop left so I can periodically get a whiff to remind me what I can look forward to when it is officially released. Hi Shawn, this release is looking good, I've got my pre-orders in and now its waiting Smile Love the look of the new labels and containers although its going to take me years to work through my inventory of the your original bottle product! I'm also looking forward to trying out the new formula toner.
Cheers

Thanks! I think the new look is pretty reflective of the new line and how it differs from the Provisions line and also I think it will be worth the wait! Don't expect anything drastically different with the new toner formula, but I am also very happy with how it turned out. Definitely worth the extra time I spent making sure I got it right, I think.

Finally got to try Declaration Grooming's special occasion base today, aka Icarus. It adds to the signature slickness and then goes leaps and bounds ahead on post-shave feel.
