The only issue with a SR passaround is that the hone job, and/or errors by previous users can have an extremely huge bearing on the edge quality and therefore peoples opinions.

unfortunately I can't answer you there. I've never used a straight razor before and I don't plan on it at the moment. Truckman will be the first one to use these..I hope to get these dropped off to the USPS tomorrow afternoon.

Hello.
If the new participant corrects the razor for himself, and shaves with the sharpening usual for him, then he will also be able to evaluate the quality of the metal from which the razor is made and draw conclusions for himself. There is no problem in this, these are razors for the dough to evaluate quality and material. Many people sharpen any razor for themselves, these razors are sharpened, each participant can test two options for sharpening, which he got from the previous participant and make his sharpening. If it's a problem, correct me.
Forgive my English, he's not my native.

Yep that makes sense. I’ll try it out and can put either a shapton glass edge or jnat edge on them

Just go confirm, Truckman got the razors late on Friday night and used the Damascus razor on Saturday or Sunday and loved it. I need to bug him to get on here to post... previous owner of DFS in its first iteration!

Yeah, yeah lol.

I just sent out the razors today to the next participant.

I absolutely loved the Damascus razor. I've never used a Damascus blade before, so I'm not sure if it's the nature of the metal, the size/shape, etc... or maybe just a superb hone job. I hadn't used a straight razor in a while and I got probably one of the best straight razor shaves out of it that I've ever had.

The other razor I liked also, although not as much as the Damascus. I think it was a combination of my technique not being as good as it was when I was using straight razors daily, the curve of the blade, and the shape of the point. I have a razor that's pointy like this one (can't recall what that style is called offhand) and I remember it took a lot of practice to not slice my face open with it lol. That said, I think this razor is super sexy and I still got a good shave from it. I'm sure if I'd had more time to practice with it I would've gotten as good a shave as from the Damascus. Not positive, though. There was just something about that Damascus blade. Only way I can think to describe it is "soft"? Like, the actual shave from it - super soft and smooth.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I'm curious to hear everyone else's opinions.

Oh, I did to 2 shaves with each, with at least a day in between, but I think more like 2-3 days in between each shave for a little growth.

Hello everyone, I got the package of razor yesterday and they arrived safe and sound. I just recently got another pass around razor sent to me on Saturday so I will do a straight razor shave with the smaller razor late this week. I am not sure if I will be comfortable enough to use the larger razor but wanted to make sure you know I will update as soon as I can. Hopefully I can squeeze in a couple straight razor shaves for you guys on video. Gotta run for now but I will update you guys again before my shaves. Chat soon
