I have two cartridges of Persona injectors and it seems every time I use one, the starting shave is very rough compared to using Chinese Schick blades.

Same prep, equivalent growth and the Persona blades feel as though the microscopic "shark teeth" are very bity and not making a clean swipe through the hair.

Anyone experience this or might I have received some defective Personas?

This has been my experience as well. So I only use the Schick blades now.

dtownvino - what have you found that differentiates the yellow Schicks from the Supply Blacks?

...and I just ordered a 15 pack of vintage Schick Platinum Plus blades to try.

Blacks are just great blades - sharp and smooth.

Those should be excellent - I prefer the vintage blades and they are long lasting.

The modern Japanese Schick injector blades are good also (not to be confused with the Proline B20s).

Since Personna and Schick are brands from the same company, Edgewell Personal Care, you would think that they would be similar in quality....NOPE!
The Personna blades are so dull that I cannot even use them in the shower to shave the hair off the back of my neck or the bridge of my nose. The Personna injector blades might be the dullest blades I have ever used. On the other hand, I find the Chinese produced Schick blades to be wonderfully sharp and long lasting.

RayClem - this tracks with my experience last night. I used the 1-shave old Personna to start my shave. It felt like I was dragging the edge of sandpaper on my skin.

I popped in a Yellow Schick, pushing out the offending Personna blade and proceeded to shave with a smooth and keen sharpness on the fresh blade. I did get some minor knicks, but I think that was just on me from not being as delicate with my pressure as I should have been. Nonetheless, it was a night and day difference!

Anyone want two free Personna blade packs, sans 2 used blades Smile

I even find the Chinese Schick blades in the yellow packaging to be sharper than vintage Schick blades from the Energizer ownership days. While the Energizer era blades are sharper than the Personna blades, the Chinese Schicks are sharper yet. I can see where some folks with less coarse beards might prefer the vintage blades, the Chinese Schicks are better suited to my tough beard.
