Virtually no buying power here, but Murat from Rocnel has been kind enough so far and is willing to work with us.

Therefor, the titanium plating was an idea thrown into the mix along with custom engraving to make this more special to the forum, without adding to the final group buy cost. I am also working on getting a stand, we will see what happens.

I like the idea of engraving under the topcap as well. "DFS 2017" and then maybe a serial number or "LE Edition #1 of X"
I was informed this titanium B&R would be unique to DFS only. I will have Rocnel do a firm confirmation on that before we move forward. Communication is quite delayed back and forth, sometimes I don't hear back for several days before a response. If anyone has any questions I should ask please feel free to PM me.

We can also cerakote the SS Rockwell 6S and I assume the required number of units would be fewer. I'll keep chatting with him and see what we can come up with.
I think color coating will be hard with Rockwell because they prefer their sand blast SS metal. I'm already a backer and we every body is hoping that the SS razor wont go over board with the price increase.

If I'm on your place I would ask Gareth if he can do DFS related initials since you want to make the GB DFS only related and different than the others. Gareth is trying to keep it simple and deliver the same quality with thee SS Model T as he did with the 2nd batch of the 6S.

Just an idea if you want to make a statement as for the razor to be different than the rest then maybe you should talk to the people who are willing to go join your GB and get some quotes from the places they offer guncoat.

Maybe Delta Echo Razor Works ?

Yes that would be it, they do great work. Look to be honest you have to realize the SS Model T hasn't been released yet and we already had problems with the brass one when Gareth tried to go in full production.... The razor might get delayed till it gets satisfactory functional all SS model. Also you have to realize even with discount for replating from DERW the final cost of the razor might exceed $200+ and that's for a semi machined razor, currently we don't know the increase price for all SS Model T.

My 5 cents:

Razor Emporium is releasing their Rex Ambassador razor which is all SS, Made in USA, based in design like the Rocnel, preorders cost is $210 ( maybe if we have successful GB we can get a bit better price then the current preorder one) I would also keep it simple if I were on ur place, after all its just a razor and do really that many people care for engravings or coating that will wear off down the road? at least this way we support USA machined razor that actually don't charge an arm and a leg and it will be more likely we end up having good GB considering the fair price of the razor.

The Rockwell 6t and Rex Ambassador razor are good options with smart idea to gauge interest now. I would be willing to spend $25 over normal retail for custom LE razor.. The risk is the unknown qualities of the razors as both probably in an advanced prototype stage. We would also be waiting 3-6 months. I understand the Rex is a much improved version of a razor concept from 2 years ago.

Charcoal Goods may be able to make a LE handle and razor for us. I bring up Seygus again - special handle and 2 heads might be option. DFS merchant (former merchant ?).

Now I see why all the GB's or LE's are for brushes or soap. Razors are difficult.

How about a Timeless Ti?

From an Accountant's point of view on a Razor group buy or limited edition (and someone hoping to purchase a really nice razor soon)
- pick a razor that would viewed as special, unique, respected brand, etc
- lower price would probably mean more DFS buyers
- pick a more artisan or lower volume manufacturer (including any 2nd vendor for plating, engraving, etc. if needed)
- pick someone with communication "timeliness" and business ethics
- allow for at least one option (handle length, OC, mild vs aggressive) unless adjustable

From my limited knowledge, Timeless, Seygus, Charcoal Goods, Rex Supply, possibly ATT. Delta Echo refinish. B&R would have been a good choice. Big task to organize!!

Nope but I heard rumours, it is on their list of things to come...So win win - they get ~50 pieces to enthusiast like us out in one go and all the advertising that comes with it - and we get a hopefully heavily discounted price...You can always ask, and worst that can happen is they say no Wink
