Is anyone else getting in on the Rockwell Chrome Series Kickstarter? As usual I'm slow out of the gate and didn't even know about this until today but I had to get in on it. I have the Rockwell 6s on the recommendation of my friend Aurelian28 and I have to tell you its a very nice razor and the flexibility to go from a very aggressive gap to a milder one from one pass to the next is really nice. I think this razor in a polished chrome or a gunmetal finish would be sweet. Here is the link to the kickstarted site if anybody is interested. The price is right too.

Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
I jumped in shortly after it was announced. I have read so many positive reviews, read so many guys stating that the 6S was the best, that I figured for the price being asked I could take the chance. I think next month is when delivery is expected. Last update was that by the end of the month the razors would be in Gareth's hands and then ship out to backers.

I opted for the gunmetal look. I will admit to checking my email frequently for updates! But until then, I recently got two Old Types that I am learning to shave with. My trusty Personna Reds that work so well in my Slim and other razors had to take the back seat and let the Silver Blue shine. Only the second time that I noticed a huge difference by just changing the blade. By shave six, having tried the Reds and Greens (7 O'clock Super Stainless), I was almost ready to sell the razors! But the Silver Blue made an aggressive feeling shaver become an efficient and comfortable shaver!

The point of the previous was really to write it, but also to ask: what do you prefer in the 6S?

Hi Eric, I like everything about the 6s, its such a nice, comfortable shaver. So far I've only taken it to plate #4 with a Feather blade and that was one efficient shave - slightly aggressive but not overly so. I'm liking #3 for now and I've used feathers and some Gillette platinums and really like both. The razor for me seems to like the sharper blades. I tried a Rapira Platinum Lux at 3 and 4 and wasn't happy, I was getting chatter. The ease of switching plates and getting varying blade gaps /aggressiveness is really nice. If I were to dock it ever so slightly I would say that the finish is utilitarian. There's no flaws or anything, its just a kind of blah flat grey. Thats why this chrome series is so interesting. If the razor performs as good as the 6s with a beautiful shiny finish, then it would be close to perfect.

By the way, did you watch Rockwell's promo video on their kickstarted page? My goodness that young fellow is giving his face a scrubbing with that razor - makes me wince to look at him. I prefer a lighter touch Big Grin

This is from a thread I started about going with the 6s vs 6c. https://damnfineshave.com/thread-rockwell-6s-vs-6c

I went with the 6s because I wanted to try an SS razor, I was impatient and didn't want to wait 2 months and if I loved the 6c I would always wonder about the SS version.  They do have the one plate option but last time I checked its just the #1#3 plate.  If they start making it available with your choice of any plate I think I would be more willing to purchase the new one.  I have tried all the plates, tried using a more aggressive plate and then switching but for me the #4 and #5 seem to work the best for me when shaving daily.  Of course I reserve the right to change my mind 5 min from now.  Big Grin

Thanks for the link to that other thread - I don't know how I missed that one. I'm planning to get the 6c in gunmetal - not sure why as the 6s is a fine razor and do I really need another razor? Ha! What a stupid question, nobody NEEDS another razor (insert maniacal laughter)Big Grin

I ordered one myself, and almost instsantly got started with straights, they have contacted me for my choice of finishes but no idea when the razor will be here.
I may not ever shave with it by the time it gets here.

Yes "NEED" is not a problem here.  Big Grin  I like the looks of the gunmetal one as well.

Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
Today the latest update arrived. From the update, "Unfortunately, the one issue that has held me back from proceeding with full shipping is some corrosion I’m seeing after the handles didn’t behave as expected in stress-testing." So shipping has been delayed by 3-4 weeks. Gareth is doing his best for us. In his words, "As you all are likely aware at this point, quality is my absolutely #1 concern and I want you all to receive products that you absolutely love - and I’m committed to taking the time to make that happen."

I am still excited to try this razor, and am glad to wait rather than get one that may have had a flaw in the chrome formulation that wouldn't show up immediately. I tip my (imaginary) hat to Gareth!
