Rockwell Blades

OK, so the blade was thumbs down in a 37C, and tried one 2 days ago in a post-war ball tech, thumbs down again. On the hit and miss scale, I think these blades are a MISS.

I will give another new one a try in my Old Type, as that was the original thought behind the purchase anyway. If it fails me there, I will put all 97 blades remaining in the pile with the other things going to the BST.

Yea, if it didnt work, I trash it and try another new one. I do believe in the "dud blade theory" where a good blade could go bad in the package by mistreatment in packaging, shipment, etc. for whatever reason ruining what would otherwise be a good blade. This is just giving them the benefit of the doubt. In addition, trying them in different type razors also gives them more of the benefit of the doubt.

Like a previous poster said, Feathers will have a slight tug on the first shave, but that disappears halfway through that first shave, sometimes after the first few strokes. Not so with these blades, for me anyway.

As I work my way WTG from my ear to my top lip, it just hurts to bad to continue.I cant even continue past my nose to the other ear. It just hurts too bad to add pressure to the razor and force it to cut when it responds by just pulling on my whiskers with more authority. The only weeper that forms is from the tear ducts in my eyes.

So I cant even make it through the first pass, let alone the first 4-pass shave, just to see how it will be on the next one. I am not of the habit of corking, stropping, or anything other than unwrapping a blade and putting it in the razor without touching the edge. Suggestions to me to do otherwise seems counter-intuitive.

Unlike most others, I found this blade not to be smooth. It did a decent job in cutting the whiskers off - but it was not as smooth as my other blades: Personna Reds, Feather, or Astra. I got these blades when I bought the Rockwell razor.

I agree brother. I tried one in my Big Fellow, and never made it past my top lip. I like the stiffness and rigidity of this blade, but they are just to dull to cut. I cannot with good conscience recommend this blade for anything remotely connected to shaving.

On a side note, always have a back up razor cued up in the cabinet. A real timesaver when using Rockwell blades.

Not bad, used a few Rockwell blades. Not the best blade on the market, but not bad.

I can't believe how dull these blades are, and this from a guy who uses Derby blades!

I ended up with a whole pile of these Rockwell blades when I ordered the Rockwell 6S razor. I thought the blades were reasonably sharp(not "Feather" sharp, but...) and fairly smooth in the 6S. I don't think I've tried them in any other razors, yet.

Often it seems that if there is a razor of the same brand, the blade will work well in that razor. Maybe that’s the case here, as well. (I’ve read countless times how the AS-D2 shines with a Feather blade in it.)
