RIP - Jeff Beck

Today the BBC announced that Jeff Beck passed away at the age of 78 after a brief struggle with bacterial meningitis. 

I was only introduced to his wizardry on the guitar a few years ago and I immediately was astounded at his mastery of that instrument. 

He truly was one of a kind!

A simply stunning guitarist, one of a kind, a genius the likes of which we'll never see again. I was just listening to Blow By Blow the other day, IMHO the best guitar album ever recorded.

No, I don't think he ever did. He started off in the Yardbirds and then headed several groups of his own. Over the years, he appeared as a guest on tracks for several big artists, but I don't think Cream was one of them. If I recall correctly, they had a fairly decent guitarist of their own.

The group consisted of bassist Jack Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker.

amazing band, for sure.

Clapton is 77 now. I need to catch him on tour again in the next year or two before he ultimately decides to stop touring entirely and just relax...

I saw him with Steve Winwood back in Philadelphia in 2009 or 2010 when they toured together.
