Ridiculous prices on Fleabay

Ok so for people wondering when you see a tub of Proraso for like $50+ on eBay or Amazon is because the seller ran out of stock of that item. Due to the algorithm of eBay and Amazon they'd lose their place in the search result. So they just figure jack up the price cause no one will be dumb enough to pay that much.

OK, sort of makes sense because no other explanation can. I figure when it comes to spending their money, most people understand the value equation.

I know we're all supposed to bow down before the all powerful Amazon, however, when I see these sorts of just ridiculous practices not to mention the fake products being sold on their marketplace, it just degrades the brand as far as I'm concerned. Its Amazon's space so if there are crooks and shysters there trying to rip off unsuspecting people then its on Bezos and Amazon. The worst scam I've encountered is where the marketplace merchant offers a useful product for really cheap and then just never sends it to you. If you complain and ask for a refund you get it but I figure that a lot of people just forget about it. They're doing little itty bitty rip offs but depending on volume they can make big money. On amazon. Buyer beware applies no matter where you go.

I think that this is the case for a lot of Chinese ebay vendors. I ordered a bunch of $1 and $2 items a little over a year ago. Mostly coin wallets and key chains. Some of it came through in the 2 month window, but 75% of it didn't. The buyer protection on ebay is really good, if you follow up. Some vendors don't reply, others give you the run around and ask you to check with the local post office etc., but ebay will always give you your money back if there isn't a tracking number to prove you received it. Some of the stuff probably just gets lost, as I had a coin wallet show up about 8 months after I ordered it. It had enough time to make 4 roundtrips between Canada and China . There are probably a lot of people that either forget about small dollar items or just don't bother to request a refund.

I think thats the scam - small dollar item and folks don't follow up or forget about it.

Another scam (this happened to me on Amazon) is where a vendor lists a product that has recently been discontinued, for a reasonable price. The vendor then kept my money for nearly two months, not offering any reason for the delay. I eventually got tired of waiting and requested a refund, whereupon Amazon did refund me the full amount.

Buyer beware applies no matter where you go.

I think that this is the case for a lot of Chinese ebay vendors.

Few years back I had ordered Clarisonic Alpha from a Chinese vendor on eBay. His price was ridiculously low and although it made me suspicious but still pulled the trigger as there were 4-5 people who had already ordered before me.

Immediately in the next 48 hrs the communication with the seller started looking very confusing and without wasting any more time I filed a case with eBay,may be others complained too. The listing was removed and money refunded.

A month later, I received a parcel with a cheap plastic bead necklace instead of a Clarisonic cleanser from the seller.Totally disgusting.
