* Konsul #6
* Wizamets
* Lothur Set
* BrushGuy + Envy Knot
* 4 day growth.

The razor was super efficient at #6. I can easily feel blade, but there was no harshness.
It was very easy to use it at #6. It is an excellent razor for sure.

I got two more shaves.
#3 has slight blade feel, but still efficient. #1 - #2 don't have blade feel. I like #6 most. Very efficient and quite comfortable.
Blade loading is not easy, this is the only thing I didn't like.
I had to push and hold the blade to get correct alignment. I needed multiple trial.

Regarding the blade loading issue voiced by several testers. Due to the extreme bend at the edges of the top cap the blade does not sit in the posts enough to expose the posts to the base plate when inverted. Photo. [Image: zsGaAHF.jpg]

the solution here is to press down on the blade and hold it in place by the sides

THen turn it upside down and place into the razor. Easy peasy because now the posts are exposed and fit easily into the baseplate voids.

Excellent Saturday Morning Luxury Shave

[Image: 7VzD05X.jpg]

The Rex Konsul arrived safely yesterday, just in time for the Saturday Morning Luxury Shave. My first impressions are very positive. The knurling is very attractive and provides a secure grip. The weight of the razor gives a nice solid feel without feeling too heavy. The blade was easy to load using the method cornbread  describes above.

I set the razor at 2.5 and performed 3 very comfortable and easy passes on a robust 36 hours of growth. There is much less blade feel than the Ambassador. Very smooth and comfortable around the chin contours. The shaving angle was intuitive for me to find. I achieved a very easy BBS that required no touch ups. The Konsul provides a great combination of comfort and efficiency, even at 2.5.

I dialed up to 5 for the head shave. This is only my first outing with a new razor, so I did not achieve the same efficiency on the dome. Nevertheless, I am BBS after 3 full passes on the dome.

The Razor Emporium Old School soap lathered up quickly and easily. It took water well and provided excellent slickness and protection. Residual slickness was long-lasting and took some rinsing to remove. Post-shave my skin felt moisturized. I experienced no irritation or nicks at all. The scent of the soap is at a nice medium level and the powder-forward note reminds me of childhood barbershop haircuts. Matt indicated that the soap will be priced at about $14, which represents great value for the excellent performance. The splash feels great. The scent is a little different from the soap, adding a slightly medicinal note that I can’t identify. However, upon drying the scent settles into a very nice classic clean barbershop.

Sunday night I continued on the Nacet blade and turned the Konsul up to 4 for the face shave and 6+ for the dome. I of course noticed an increase in efficiency, achieving a darn fine shave in two passes plus pickups. Very efficient and very comfortable. The Konsul does not feel at all menacing or “blad-y” as the Ambassador can at the higher settings. I still have trouble getting the curved areas of the dome using a slant. I noticed a bit more sting post-shave tonight than previously.

I tried the Lavender sample this evening. The samples are a bit dehydrated compared to the full tub of Old School. Nevertheless, the soap took water well, rehydrated easily, and produced a very slick lather. The scent is slightly floral, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would certainly purchase a full tub of the Razor Emporium Lavender soap when I need to restock.
