I really enjoy my Rex Ambassador everytime I shave with it. I shave with it wide open (setting 6.5) regardless if I am daily shaving or every 2-3 days. It delivers a very nice 2.5 pass BBS shave when used daily. It is going nowhere and will remain an integral part of my rotation.

So my Rex Ambassador has definitely become my daily driver. I've been traveling for work lately and I took my fat handle tech with me. Letting the airlines loose my Rex is not an option. I got home a few days ago and my first shave being home was yesterday. My Rex blasted through the three days of growth(which is a rarity) with no problem. It was a great welcome home! Unfortunately I'm heading right back out but this time I'm not flying. The Rex is now packed!

I've packed my safety razor with no blades into my carry on bag. Is that not allowed?

That's allowed, but you might get held up. I always put my travel razor in my shirt pocket, and then into the white tub for the conveyor belt. Sometimes I get to demo how the razor works for the TSA guy or gal...

You're right. I could carry it on. But I always fly with a LOT of electronics and I just figure its one less thing to be harassed about. Even with TSA Pre I still get bugged about how much I'm carrying.

Steve, you’re right.  I have Global Entry and it’s even worse internationally.  At London’s Heathrow earlier this month, every bit of my carry-on bag was opened and inspected, to the point that I almost missed my connecting flight to Edinburgh, only to be told that my small tube of toothpaste had to go into that quart size bag of liquids.  Last Tuesday, at Edinburgh Airport, my bag was again opened, though by a much nicer person, only to be told that my travel size can of shaving gel had to also be in the quart size bag.  Returning to Edinburgh from Florence via Pisa’s airport, wristwatches must be removed, and don’t get me started about the time I was leaving San Diego International Airport, all but made to strip down to my underwear (I was taken to a private room) because I kept setting off the metal detector even though I had absolutely nothing in my pockets.  When I was finally free to go, I asked the TSA agent what the problem was so I could avoid it in the future.  His response was that my shirt was tucked in!  All I could think of is that I have my shirts starched and maybe that was it. I do not untuck my shirts and that seems to have been a one off.  However, it is for reasons like these, and others (like the time they thought my Gillette NEW, without blades anywhere, was a bullet) that I only take a Gillette Fusion with me while flying.  As much as I love my Rex Ambassador, there is no way I would chance it, either packed and checked or going through security.  It simply isn’t worth the risk and I don’t blame you for not flying with it.

I did not know that toothpaste had to go in the bag with the liquids. I fly every other week and I've never been checked for toothpaste. I only fly domestically, but I don't have issues with my razor or my other liquids. I just make sure to put my clear bag of liquids and my razor in the bin.

The toothpaste and canned shaving gel have only been a problem for me internationally, specifically the U.K.  However, with so many rules that seem to change all the time, for any number of reasons, I still would not take an expensive razor when transportation calls for air travel.

Rex finally arrived last week. First shave wasn't what I was expecting and was harsher at setting 3 than the Rockwell using the 4 plate that I've gotten used to over the last two months. I, too, noticed the top cap had some drag to it and wasn't sliding well. Will work on the techniques discussed here.

Only the first shave, but I'd have liked a better first impression given the three month wait since placing the order and the price point.

My Rockwell 6s was much smoother I too found some drag with the Rex even though it is a wonderful built razor
