If you’ve ever checked out my blog, you may already know that my husband and I really like citrus scented shaving products, so I’m always in search of new ones to try. I came across the Simpsons Citrus Burst Shaving Cream when West Coast Shaving ran a sale on all Simpsons products recently and decided to give it a shot. So here's my review...
I’ll start with the overall quality of the shaving cream. It lathered really well with my badger brush, good cushion, very slick. No complaints there.
The packaging is great, an easy to open tin that didn’t rust and I will definitely reuse later.
The price is a little on the high side, but you do get 4.2 oz. of quality product and a little goes a long way.
Now for my thoughts on the scent. I was hoping for a nice lemon/lime scent based on the descriptions of the cream I read several places. Unfortunately, all I smelled was floral. No citrus smell any of the times I used it. The ingredients list includes “Epiloblum Augustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract” so I’m guessing that’s what I’m smelling. It’s a nice strong scent, just not was I was looking for at all. Needless to say I was disappointed.
Due to the quality of the cream I’d be inclined to try other Simpsons scents (but will likely wait for another sale).
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've ever tried out this shaving cream...what did you think of the scent?
