Fortunately, I don't use aftershaves etc. I like the less-strong smelling soaps and don't have a need for twenty of those. I used my WD 24mm synthetic brush almost exclusively this year so don't need more brushes. So apart from buying oodles of slants and straights, I really don't see the problem Big Grin
O, yeah, decided to cure this brush thing so bought a Shavemac and ordered a Morris & Fendran this month.

I should rein it in a bit ... but I probably will find something I've GOT to have - like a new Parker adjustable! LoL!

I did a purchase sabbatical in 2015,  only doing a few trades all year. It was a great experience, but did nothing to cure my ADs. Quite the opposite actually. Prior to 2015, I felt my interest in new shaving products waning , partially due to be overwhelmed by the all the stuff in my den. 2015 was a time to enjoy what I had already purchased. Cut to 2016, and I am back to spending way too much on gear again. Restraints may not cure AD's or save money in the long run, but I think they are worth doing purely to help you fully evaluate and enjoy what you have.

So the lesson I am getting is to save up my money in 2017 for a spree in 2018! I do intend to do as you state, enjoy and evaluate. I am also certain that replenishing can be traumatic to the wallet. I will have to consider how to buy without going nuts and purchasing everything that sparkles.

I'd be more mindful of my purchases. I already know brands that I like and sticking with, but I know my adventurous self is likely to try new stuff too, however I will make it a point to be less impulsive, and wait for peer reviews if possible.

I'm pretty much satisfied with razors now. I'd probably make one or two purchases this coming 2017, after it has gone through tremendous scrutiny and consideration. I don't want my wife to choke slam me in 2017.

After an out of control 2016, I said only select 'special' items in 2017 but as I think of the list it keeps growing

I also plan to be more mindful of my purchases - I too fear the choke slamConfused I have a Rockwell 6s that I haven't used yet and I'm toying with the idea of having Jay at Delta Echo do a number on it like the Steampunk Tech he has on his merchant thread.

I get it and wish you the best of luck in your endeavor. But based on several years of following others (mostly ill fated) attempts of NB, I suggest two options guaranteed to enhance your chances of success. 1) Unplug your computer. 2) Join the French Foreign Legion.

I've got lot's of shaving stuff too that I need to use up. I remember back in the 80's and 90's when all I had was one razor, brush, and soap, and I only bought soap and blades when I ran out of them. Usually it was Williams Menthol, or Colgate SS, and a 10 pack of Personna carts for the Atra. Bought everything at the local drug store just up the street..

Reading shaving forums may be educational and entertaining, also Expensive!

I take pride in limiting pre/post shave to just GFT skin food and finishing 3 shave creams recently. Razors under $100, kickstarter or one on sale at $123. 300 blades.
My weakness is nice shaving brushes (Mervyn Cadman, Wolf Whisker (2), Paladin (2), Shavemac, LE pre-order). Unless sanity prevails or credit card maxed out, Brad Sears M&F, Mervyn Cadman Moneybox and Shavemac group buy coming in 1st Qtr 2017. With any luck, Paladin Sherlock in Disco also in 2017.
