I have seen Rooney brushes relabeled and sold under the name of Boots, a UK pharmacy.  Does anyone know if other pharmacies relabeled Rooney brushes in the past?

Not a pharmacy, but D.R. Harris has sold relabeled Rooney brushes. Trumper as well likely. I've seen some D.R. Harris labeled Rooneys, and a catalog photo of known Rooney models with some known Simpson models and an unknown model I suspect is a Rooney.

Yes, I've seen them labeled by Harris, T&H, Trumper, and TOBS. I'm mainly curious about the pharmacy ones. Ken at Paladin Shaving mentioned that some had been sold under the Olde Apothecary name.

Yes, there were some from under the Olde Apothecary name too. I haven't seen them in awhile. I remember reading something on that but forget now all of what it was.

I think closer to 1/3 and 1/2. The one on the left is 26/54 with a handle of 50mm. The one on the right is 24/54 with a handle height of 47mm.

I would agree with you in terms of the size. A size 3 on the left and a size 2 on the right. The band in the middle is what makes me think the left is the Stubby model, and the right one is the Series 1 model. Also the bottom parts have a subtle but noticeable difference. I can't choose one over the other and love them both. A comparison of three Rooney size 2 brushes I have: 1/2, Stubby 2, and 2XL.

Each brush gets progressively smaller in height, and the width varies.

The 1/2 has a handle of 47.66mm, 38mm width at the Rooney label, and 53.4mm loft.
The Stubby 2 has a handle of 47mm, 37.79mm at the Rooney Label, and a loft of 47mm
The Stubby 2XL has a handle of 44.71mm, 38.16mm wide at the Rooney label, and a loft of 49.96mm.

While not huge number differences, you can see they do make a difference when lined up to each other with the Stubby looking the narrowest of the lot and a bit shorter.

Thanks for sharing a picture of the two of them pc4406! They're beautiful shaving brushes!

I forgot about looking through my saved images I saved an image of a wonderful Series 3 Finest Old Apothecary Shop brush. I think this image belongs to Merkur Man possibly. Maybe blzfrn.

I agree with you. The one on the left is a Stubby model and the one on the right is a Series 1. Thanks for lending your expertise.
