RazoRock Stealth Slant

Ordered one this afternoon with the new batch they got in yesterday....so pumped!

I'd love to hear from others who own one or used it before...

I had both the aluminum and stainless steel version both v.3 and both beautifully engineered and efficient. I kept the SS version just because I like the added weight. I hear the DLC version is superb.

Hey Folks...sorry for coming late to the party. I've been extremely busy so busy that I have yet to try the slant out!

Will have a shave with it within the next week and a review will follow... For those of you who own or have used the SS have you always noticed the "clicking" of the razor once the head clamps down and locks the blade  into place? Mine doesnt "click" though the blade does seem locked & secure.

I think that was common with the V1's. I have a V3 and there is no click.

I have and use the v3 in SS and it has no click and is very secure. My favorite razor hands down.

I happen to be a lucky guy who had a chance to try both.
Aluminum version is very very smooth and easy to shave with.  Almost feels as mild as ej89, or even milder, but gives me a BBS that I could never get with ej89.
Stainless version is a different beast. When I used it for the first time after having used aluminum version for a week, I was shocked at how different they felt.
stainless version felt very very aggressive, and I could feel a lot of blade on my face.  In fact, it almost scared me a little that I almost thought I couldn't finish the shave with it that night.  I stuck with it, finished the shave, got an extremely close shave, touch closer than the one with aluminum version.

Both are great razors, but they have two completely different characteristics.
Stainless version is very very hefty too.

In my opinion, once you get used to the added weight of the SS version, the characteristics are virtually the same. I have owned and tried many slants and this is my favorite. I own the Shavecraft #102 from Ikon as well as the Non DLC version of the Ikon Slant. I have tried both the Merkur Models (37c & 39c) and both were too aggressive to me. I also own a vintage Hoffritz Slant and a vintage Lutz Slant neither of which I have shaved with.

I have the Kiyara version which i think is either v2 or v3. I don't get that click that was common with the first ones, all the different versions I think have slight changes to the end cap and head of the razor. I'm guessing the base plate was less rounded as the versions went on and there wasn't as much of a camber to it making that crunchy click noise like the blade had just snapped. I only have one so I assume this is an improvement in the design, it's easy to forget that these razors including the ones released recently are still technically protoype razors but with all the stuff thats coming out of RR it sounds like they may be ready to move on from the stealth.

My V3 doesn't click. By the way, do not try to adjust the blade. When you load it and look at it from the top, it will look as if the blade is cock-eyed. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS. I know so many people who have forced the blade back into even alignment and then hated the shave. It is counter intuitive but in the Stealth Slant, it must be this way.

I hate to say this because I don't want anyone to get carried away, but the Stealth sometimes requires a little (emphasize little) bit of pressure. Careful, though.

One of the best razors out there IMHO. Everyone should have one in their collection.

I would love to have this razor but it is too expensive. I use the sledge hammer merkur 37c and it works just fine with crystal blades. I am not willing to pay $85 bucks for the slant...too much

I was able to pick up a V4 out of pure luck. It's an interesting razor, but the aluminum is so light it forces me to change my technique (same issues with the RRBS).

I prefer a mild, head heavy razor (eg: ATT M1) with an aggressive blade like a PolSilver SI. In that set-up, I can let the razor "fall" down my skin with minimal pressure. The RRSS is mild, but too light in that regard, requiring me to apply some down force. My first go with a PolSilver SI resulted in some minor irritation (same result if I apply pressure with the ATT M1). I'm going to start stepping down blades until I reach the Astra SP. And if I can't get it with the Astra SP, I'm not going to get it at all.

You might want to buy/trade it for the stainless steel model. It is much heavier.

How is the razor working out for you?

Reading very different opinions about this razor. Some people love it, while some having a hard time getting it dialed in, especially shaving on the neck seems to be point where people are being splitted.

Yesterday, My Father who is a retired engineer and one of the toughest critics I know told me it's the only razor he's ever used that shave 4 to 5 days growth like a hot knife through butter. He said he was impressed. Nothing beats making Pops proud

Now I want to make the head thinner and more sleek while maintaining the same efficiency.
