Hey, kooshman7, thanks for the review and update.  I just received my SLOC 2.0 a few days ago and it's up for my next shave.  I already have a YAQI DOC (Double Open Comb) that I really like so it shall be interesting to compare the two.

Hey all, I hadn't forgotten about doing another review on the SLOC 2.0 and the Tuckaway. Been feeling sluggish and a bit fatigued. The plus side is I had about 2 weeks of facial growth to cut down giving me a chance to see how they would do with the blade I've liked best in each

Equipment used:

Simpson Vetyver & Lavendar shaving cream
Proraso Sandalwood Preshave
Nivea face wash
A new Green Derby to the Tuckaway, and a new LPB for the SLOC 2.0
Coral Skin Food
SLOC 2.0 & Gillette Tuckaway of course
Shavemac Synthetic

First off I got a good shave from both, but one of the razors definitely shined more this time around, and that was the SLOC 2.0. The cutting efficiency of the SLOC 2.0 was readily apparent with the Lab Personna Blue blade, and was able to cut through the thick hair much easier. The Tuckaway with the Green Derby struggled, but I was able to get as comfortable a shave, just not as close as the SLOC 2.0 gave me. The Tuckaway was close to trying to tug, but it never did. The blade just wasn't as sharp as the LPB was, but if I used the LPB in the Tuckaway it wouldn't have been as comfortable. The first time was with about a weeks growth I think it was, and during that shave it was a bit more equal, but I had a LPB in both if I recall correctly.

I had no problems with the teeth bothering me on the SLOC 2.0, and ATG passes feel surprisingly comfortable. It just feels natural to use the SLOC 2.0 that way, and works very well with blade buffing as well. One other thing I forgot to mention is the weight. I went in thinking that the light weight of the razor might be a drawback, but I'm glad I decided to give another go with an aluminum head and a steel razor handle. The SLOC 2.0 just feels right in any way that I've used it. It doesn't feel unnatural like when I tried a titanium handle with a stainless steel baseplate and cap. I can't recall the cap and baseplate I tried that with. I only remember I had a Stork Titanium Aristocrat handle. Even with the Green Derby blade which is subpar for me in near every razor I've used did a good job in this razor! The Tuckaway is still the best pairing there, but that doesn't matter as the SLOC 2.0 pairs better with my regular LPB.

I should really try to give this razor a go around with my Masamune OC head. That has felt too harsh on my face with a LPB, but maybe I'll try that combination again. When I tried the Masamune OC was when I didn't have much growth, and personally I think I'd be more inclined to go for a OC razor when it's been about a week since I last shaved. The SLOC 2.0 has me intrigued enough to try it more often with some other blades. I found the Game Changer in both SB variants to be too mild for me, and a bit underwhelming personally, but something just clicks with this razor. I think it's as beautiful as my Game Changers, and honestly I keep them for decoration as I love the Merkur handle and Barberpole handle of them so much. Someday I might be tempted to try them again, I just haven't been so yet. This razor I see getting more use. It's better than my old Gillette Tuckaway, that's for certain!

This shave around I used the SLOC 2.0 with my Masamune OC with a new LPB in both razors. I think I had more growth this time around than my last time, and it showed in the shave. I used the Masamune on my right side of my face, and the SLOC 2.0 on the left hand side of the razor. Normally I don't have much problems getting most of the hair in the first pass, but I had to go to three passes this time around. The ergonomics of the Masamune were on display as normal and I had no problems in maneuvering it as I wanted on my face. The first pass I needed to almost ride the cap to shave the hairs comfortably. I had a few pulls here and there, but not too badly. Backing off and approaching it again usually solved that issue. My WTG pass as I got closer to my chin became harder to clear, or at least in the amount I normally get from one pass. The SLOC 2.0 also displayed some discomfort of a few pulling hairs that were also solved by stopping and reapproaching it. Closer to the middle of my chin it struggled clearing as much as it normally does.

My second pass was again WTG as I didn't achieve sufficient reduction of my growth. With my second pass the Masamune showed it has a higher efficiency to cutting than what the SLOC 2.0 displays. The added efficiency demands slowing down and to concentrate on your technique, and can be a bit harsher as a result of the added cutting efficiency. With this pass I was able to move the teeth closer to my face and not ride the cap as much as possible. Comfort was increased and did a good job of cutting around my sensitive corners of my mouth and right below my lower lip.

The second pass with the SLOC 2.0 overall was just a touch better. The cutting efficiency is a bit reduced from the Masamune, but not significantly so. Just enough to take away from the harshness of the Masamune and resulted in smoother cutting. Because of the lighter weight you need to put a little extra pressure on the razor to cut smoothly. Cutting angles you can choose from with the SLOC 2.0 are more diverse, and still the same. Note I didn't need to ride the cap if I didn't feel it called for it with the first shave. Getting under my lower lip is markedly improved with this razor, and continues to shine for that.

I noted that I still had enough scruff right under my chin down to my neckline that necessitated a third shave. The third shave consisted of my XTG/ATG shave approach. Both razors worked great, but again noted the SLOC 2.0 as being just a touch nicer overall for my preferences. One thing to note that I forgot to mention is the handle grip on both. The Masamune's sandblasted handle has a more secure grip and it's weight makes it feel premium, but at the same time the SLOC 2.0 felt premium as well. The combination of the steel handle and aluminum head work much better together than I thought they would from the start, and combined with the handle shape I've come to enjoy the SLOC 2.0 with each shave I use it in. The handle is polished, but at the same time it seems to have some sort of coating that aids the grip. I never even bothered with alum with this shave for my fingers, but that's something that can vary time to time and not something I put significant emphasis upon.

If I had to say if there was a winner, the SLOC 2.0 continues to be the winner. I would be interested in seeing how the SLOC 2.0 and the Masamune OC compare with less growth to see how it compares in that situation. The last combination I could put the SLOC 2.0 up against is with my Timeless .68 OC. One feature of the Timeless OC I love is the head design that has such a large gap under the razor blade for lather. I don't think you could clog that razor, which all the Gillette OCs I've tried had considerable problems with. These two did well and didn't note any problems with clogging, but it would be nice to compare the Timeless to the SLOC 2.0 primarily as it is the closest thing I've found to an OC that feels like a SB razor which is my preference. Even then I still would prefer a straight bar I think, but I'm glad I got the SLOC 2.0 razor as it's the closest I've found to an OC I would considering using daily other than the Timeless.

Edit: Quick note that the SLOC was a bit closer at the beginning, but now it feels pretty even.

Had another long delayed shave. Being as that was the case, I took out the Timeless .68 OC to have a go with the SLOC 2.0. Right side was dedicated to the Timeless, and the left side to the SLOC. First pass was WTG like usual. Not quite as thick as my last shave, but it was bordering quite close. Both razors performed quite well for the first pass reduction. I think the SLOC 2.0 had it by a marginal amount for the first pass, and worked very well in buffing it down a bit easier. In terms of maneuverability it still goes to the 2.0 razor. It just really works well getting around under the nose, corners of lips, and under the lower lip. More time with the Timeless improves my skill in maneuvering with it, but thanks to the slimmer head profile the 2.0 will always win. In terms of comfort in reducing the hair it is very close. I might favor the Timeless just a smidge more, but honestly I would rather just call it even as it is so close.

My second pass with both razors went just as nicely as my first. The middle of my face under my chin has a bad razor bump at the moment, but had no problem getting around it. No nicks causing any more problems in that area. WTG/ATG pass on both sides went smoothly and without incident. No nicks, comfortable removal on both sides, and just a good shave for both sides. I still like the head profile of the Timeless especially for an open comb, but really like the maneuverability the 2.0 has. I might have gotten a slightly closer shave with the Timeless, but again it is very close. For the price between the two, the SLOC 2.0 wins I feel if it's that comparable and considering the price differential. I definitely like both of these over the Masamune OC.

Really only have two last usages I could put the SLOC 2.0 under and that is a shave after a day and a half with both the Masamune OC and Timeless OC.

Doctor Strange of Wetshaving

I really love DOC razors.
I'm reading about Phoenix Shaving Ascension Flat Bottom.
And now I see this RazoRock SLOC 2.0

But I cant' find specs of RR.
Just lenght of the handle, and total weight.

Can users help me?
I'm looking for:
• Total lenght
• Head only weight

For the moment PAA is more appealing to me.
But this new Haloed Ufo handle is very nice.

I've picked some pics and made a collage.
Enjoy.
