I came to the conclusion that the razor is too light and used my Maggard MR11 handle this morning with the Feather Pro Blade. The heavier handle helped a great deal. The knurling also made a difference. I really enjoyed the shave and will continue with this set up for a while. As this is my first single edge razor designed for use with the Feather Artist Club Blade, I am now inclined to explore other single edge razors.

Great entry level shaver right? This is exactly what the market needed.

So I ordered a Black Hawk because I just really don't care for chrome. I figured I would just sell the chrome one, since they are no more, and people are looking for them. I got the black one today, and all was fine. I had a little wax lubricant on the threads of the chrome one so I figured I would clean it up a little before I boxed it. I tossed it in my little electro static cleaner and..... it bubbled up the chrome plating. So the moral of the story is:

Be gentle with your Hawks. The plating is what one might expect for twenty bucks.

Well, that one [\insert creative adjective here] on e-bay has a NIB one listed at like $205 shipped, so I figure mine must be worth at least $150 shipped. It only has a little of the chrome flaking off.

This is my first se and the black hawk is impressive.  I can't wait to try a better blade I am using the feather guard right now but have a few of the other 4 to try out. I think my face needs a more aggressive blade.

I have both the Ikon El Jefe and RR Hawk Chrome. I used the Hawk first loaded with a Kai Captain Mild Pink which didn't impress me. I then used the El Jefe loaded with a Dorco Super Barber Blade. I didn't pay close enough attention to the blade alignment and experienced some irritation on the first shave, though I did achieve a very close shave. I tried again the next day paying closer attention to the blade alignment, but even when properly aligned the combo proved to be too aggressive and re-aggravated the irritation from the day before. I took a couple days off and then used my Hawk this morning with a fresh Feather Pro blade and finally have achieved a very close shave with zero irritation. What a combination!

Electrostatic cleaner? Like to clean the air in your house? I'm confused.
