I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Many are enjoying the razor, especially since you get alot for your money.

It'll be a little bit as the package will be arriving just after I leave for vacation for 2 weeks. I probably won't get to use it until after Thanksgiving, but we'll see.

My chrome Hawk arrived yesterday and I shaved with it this morning. The finish isn't stellar, but it is adequate. There are some rough spots on the inside of the cap and plate, but they don't affect functionality. This is a very lightweight razor compared to a typical DE. I loaded it with a Feather Pro, lathered up, and went to work.

The Hawk is smooth, mild, and efficient. I have an average but pretty coarse beard. It gave me a DFS in my usual two passes, plus some touch-up work. No nicks or weepers. In summary, it's a fine razor. In fact, it may be just the ticket for you sensitive skin types. It's probably not aggressive enough for you guys with coarse, heavy beards. I'd say it falls right in the middle and probably meets the needs of most men, not to mention the fact that it's an excellent value for $20.

I have an iKon El Jefe in the mail. I'll be anxious to see how it compares.

To me the El Jefe blows the Hawk out of the water in terms of efficiency, especially when the Hawk is used with the light factory handle. I am not knocking the Hawk per se, but being a dude with a pretty wicked set of whiskers, the Hawk just takes a little more work to get the job done.

I did put a heavy long handle on the Hawk and it made it into an entirely different shaver. Much for efficient for me. When the Feather Pro I am using now dulls out, I will try a super in it.

Did your El Jefe have issues? I was ready to pull the trigger on one until I read about the blade alignment.

It is nothing that can't be fixed with a little adjusting. I am more put off by the shoddy threads on the post. It is an area of concern to me, long term, as Shavecraft heads get a lot of complaints about stretched threads.

In terms of performance it gets an A+, and is one of the best razors I have ever used. Considering the pricetag on them, I would definitely buy. I will buy another if they are ever re-tooled, and if one was released in stainless, I would buy in a heartbeat.

Sorry for the hi-jack.

Interesting. I'm pretty fortunate. I would say I have a fast growing medium beard, so The Hawk with a Feather Pro mows it down pretty nicely. Usually get a BBS shave from it with no trouble at all.

I have been using the Hawk for a week trying to figure out what blade I like and what works best. I came to the conclusion that the razor is too light and used my Maggard MR11 handle this morning with the Feather Pro Blade. The heavier handle helped a great deal. The knurling also made a difference. I really enjoyed the shave and will continue with this set up for a while. As this is my first single edge razor designed for use with the Feather Artist Club Blade, I am now inclined to explore other single edge razors.
