Bobmsp notified me that he received the GC. There have been numerous GC reviews on this thread, and nearly everything has been said. Here is my 2 cents anyway.

I used a Razorock mission 13mm x 90mm handle (stainless) which worked very well with the GC. I did 4 shaves with beard growth of 1, 2 and 3 days. Tried 3 different blades: Polsilver, Personna Israeli Red, and Astra.

The GC shaved equally well, regardless of the blade choice. The GC holds the blade very tight and there is zero blade chatter, and lower audible feedback than with more open razors. Considering the GC architecture, blade gap of 0.068, and blade rigidity, the GC gives a mild shave. I would not hesitate to promote this razor as an excellent choice for a new wet shaver. IMHO it is better than a Merkur 34C HD for a new shaver.
The shave angle is very easy to find and nearly automatic. IMHO it is close to impossible to get cut with the current GC plate. I think it is even better than the Mamba or Baby Smooth for ease of use. I did a 3 pass and had to do some buffing and touch up for a BBS shave. For that reason, I would prefer a more aggressive plate. I believe that with the GC architecture, it will be absolutely incredible with a more aggressive plate.

The razor build quality (stainless steel) and shave experience makes it a tremendous value at $49 to $55. I suggest that Italian Barber offer the razor with a basic "choice" of mild or aggressive plate, and also offer it with both plates for around $75 if possible. That price would be a "game changer" in competing with the Rockwell 6S!

I thoroughly enjoyed the razor, and will definitely purchase one for my collection, with both mild and aggressive plates, when they are available.

what state are you located in? you'd also need at least 10 posts so people could PM you.

this pass around has been going on since January. We need to put an end to it sooner than later.

I've had 3 shaves with the Game Changer and it's been a great experience.

I was lucky enough to pick up a Paradigm 17-4 before they became a hot ticket, so I thought I might do a comparison with the GC.  I skipped my shave yesterday and today I loaded a fresh Polsilver SI in each razor.  Lathered up with some Haslinger and had a beautiful 3 pass (rather than my usual 2 pass) shave today.

So is the Game Changer as good as a 17-4?  No - but perhaps that's the wrong question to be asking.  The question that I'd ask is whether the 17-4 is worth 4-5 times the price.  And here I think I'd have to answer no as well.  Don't get me wrong.  The Paradigm side of my face is still BBS smooth hours later and there is the tiniest bit of roughness on the Game Changer side.  Also, the 17-4 was perceptively smoother, but I don't know that anyone would notice that much of a difference if they weren't shaving simultaneously with both razors.  There wasn't much of a drop-off in smoothness between the two. So I don't know that it's necessary to spend an extra $200 to get a great shave.

I'm going to keep the razor for a few more shaves and then will send it on to Asafiev later this week.

Thanks for the chance to try the Game Changer.  I would definitely consider purchasing one as a travel/backup razor for my 17-4.

The blade gap on the GC is 0.68. What is the blade gap on the 17-4? Do you feel that the 17-4 is a little more aggressive than the GC you compared it to? Lastly, if the GC is offered with a more aggressive blade gap, say .090, do you think it would be on an equal with the 17-4, and potentially just as smooth? Thanks for this great comparison. After trying out the GC, my biggest question was how it compared with legendary razors such as the 17-4 and the new Karve (based on everyone's raves on it). If the GC gets that close in performance to those higher priced razors, it truly is an economic "game changer" in the industry.

I have never seen a published blade gap for the 17-4, so I don't know the answer to your question.  (I also know - as you do, I'm sure - that blade gap doesn't tell the whole story about aggressiveness.)

I would say that the 17-4 might be a touch more aggressive than the GC that's in the passaround, but my guess (emphasis guess) is that a more aggressive GC will be more efficient (and aggressive) than the 17-4.  As far as smoothness goes, I've yet to experience a razor as smooth as the 17-4 that still gives me a great shave.

I've got a Timeless 0.68 SB razor that is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I was hoping to have a shave comparing it to the GC as well before I send it off to the next shaver.  I've used a Timeless before during a passaround and my recollection is that it was basically as smooth as the 17-4, but not quite as efficient.  It will be interesting to see how the GC stacks up.

Of course, over the long run, it may be that the premium razors still outperform the Game Changer. It's hard to say with less than a week's use of a razor.

I believe Joe said they're working on a 0.90 plate for the GC.
