I received a Reggie’s Razors Titan in the post earlier today.

The razor is made of grade 2 titanium and weighs 64g. It has a handle length of 85mm, a blade gap of 0.6mm and is manufactured in the UK. It comes with a lifetime warranty which is printed on a sturdy metal card.

I was previously lucky enough to trial one of these razors in a UK forum pass around and really enjoyed using it, hence the purchase.

Given that I had an idea as to how it was going to shave I thought I would undertake a comparison with one of my favourite Ti razors; the Seygus Zeppelin v2 with a 0.5 / 0.7mm plate.

The Titan shaves very nicely and gives a smooth and efficient shave.

Whilst the Seygus is 10g heavier, it does have a longer handle.

The Titan has a smaller threaded central post than the Zeppelin, but this doesn’t cause any problem when attaching the handle. It reminds me very much of a vintage Gillette Tech in this respect.

I loaded both with a new Rapira Platinum Lux blade and shaved half of my face and head with one razor and the other half with the other razor.

The results were interesting.

The Titan was smoother and more efficient than the 0.7mm side of the Zeppelin. This enabled it to give a nice and comfortable shave on my face and an awesome head shave.

For the second pass I compared the Titan with the 0.5mm side of the Zeppelin.

The 0.5mm side of the Zeppelin is one of the smoothest shaving options out there and has only been bettered by my RS-10.

Suffice to say, the Titan felt less smooth than the 0.5mm side of the Zeppelin but not by much.

I really like the Titan and the weight and balance feels spot on.

It’s definitely a razor which will stay in my collection.

Are there any other razors that you could compare the Titan with? Similar shave feel? I was looking at this razor for some time but being in the US, shipping and the currency conversion puts this razor at a pretty high price tag.

The price point does put it above the cost of a Timeless Ti without shipping. Even with a few "upgrades" like the scalloped cap and bar the timeless was still a tad cheaper. How much was shipping to the US? I didn't look that far. It is a nice razor.

If I remember correctly it was around $20.

The only other Ti razor I own is a Henson medium (0.68mm blade gap) and the Titan is definitely more efficient than the Henson.

I would say, without comparing the two side by side and based upon memory, that the Henson will, I think, give a similar level of smoothness.

I’m based in the UK and the Titan works out to be cheaper in price this side of the pond.

The Titan can be purchased for £216 once the 10% discount offered on the Reggie’s Razors website has been taken into account.

The Zeppelin Ti, purchased directly from Seygus, costs 220 Euros plus shipping and will attract a charge of at least 20% plus £8 handling costs to import it into the UK from Spain. Given this, the overall total (allowing 15 Euros for postage costs) would be in the region of £245 to £250 (depending upon the exchange rate at any given time).

The added benefit of the Seygus is the ability for customization in that a blade gap option of between 0.5mm and 0.9mm can be specified on each razor and they will also add a logo to the baseplate (at extra cost) should one desire.

Unfortunately we cannot get Seygus in the states.  All the shops that had them sold out, and have not restocked as far as I know.

It’s a nice looking razor.  At about 285 dollars plus shipping it’s at a unique price position in the North American market.  Grade 2 Ti Alloy is fine for razors, I have a Windrose handle made from it.  85mm is a bit short 90mm would be ideal given the balance that Ti brings to the market.

If the RS10 bests it, I wonder how the Paradigm Ti2 and Diamondback compare for smoothness.  Do you have any experience with either? Both are close to the RS10 to shave with for myself.

Unfortunately not. Paradigm razors are difficult to get hold of in the UK for obvious reasons and very few come up for sale on UK-based forums.

Hopefully I’ll get the chance to try one some day.
