Raw Shaving Closing

The RS10 has no lubricating strips it is a very smooth razor that is offered in a mild and mid aggressive plate and when you compare it to other high end SS polished razors with 2 baseplates the price is not out of line. People who use it seem to enjoy it as you haven't seen the release of many on the BST even though it has been out there for a year. For the complaint that it looks like another razor, I believe , other than the Timeless .68 & .95 head, most modern razors have vintage razors that gave inspiration. Even the famed BBS1 has many similarities to an old Persona razor. None of this matters at this point, I just hope this is not a new trend on the new generation of Artisan razor as so many have made improvements and added variety to our wetshaving community in the past 7-8 years. I know I have and enjoy many of these new modern razors

I own hundreds of DE razors — vintage and modern. The RS-10 is my favorite. It shaves as close as any razor. At the same time, it’s incredibly smooth. I can’t find quite the same combination in any other razor. It was expensive and I guess they had some snazzy materials/packaging, which rubbed some people the wrong way. I’m not particularly a fan of a fancy box either. But the razor itself is an absolute winner — not because it looks good (which it does) but because it’s supremely effective. I’m sorry to hear they are closing up.

I would imagine the cost of development and production without some volume was a killer. Matt can attest to this better than any of us.

So why are they closing up shop? Not many customers for $500 razor stands?

If you like really expensive DE razors with replaceable "lubricating strips" , super fancy boxes that you'll stow away in a closet and never look at again, waaayy overpriced combination paperweight/razor stands and suspiciously familiar looking razor designs, then yeah, you'll love it.

The reason they're closing has nothing to do with lack of sales. I find it a bit comical that the only people who are complaining about the company and their products, are those who have never actually used them.

Not complaining, just pointing out the reasons why I have zero interest in even trying one. What I think is comical is this viewpoint that I'm not allowed to express my opinion on a product that I haven't used. I stated nothing about the performance of the razor because I don't care how it shaves. Everything about the company and it's website turns me off before I even get to that point and I'm allowed to say so. I don't need to use the razor to express that opinion. It's not like after I shave with it and I like the result, all of that other stuff that I don't like magically disappears. So stop saying that, it doesn't make any sense.

Yes, it's expensive. But from my experience with it, it's a stellar razor. Every shave is enjoyable and it's unfortunate he's closing. Yes it's expensive but I'm glad to have gotten one either way. Fantastic razor imo.

It’s very sad to hear that Raw are closing. Whilst they command a premium price, the quality of the finished product is excellent.

It’s a real shame that more people will not have a chance to use these razors.

I read somewhere that they''ll be available for several years. So stock up as much as you can.
