I received an Email today from Avi that Raw Shaving is closing production as of today. Many of you know my fondness of the smooth and efficient razor, I will not go into detaiis but it saddens me that such a wonderful razor will no longer be available. Avi did a wonderful job creating the razors he did. He has been a true gentleman with great customer service

Yes I got an email too from him. I met Avi at big shave east and we have stocked his razors for a few months. Very nice guy - great products. Sad day for the Shaving world.

I would imagine the cost of development and production without some volume was a killer. Matt can attest to this better than any of us.

As a consumer I really was interested in one, but the upfront investment was a deterrent, it was a want not a need, as such have yet to buy one and guess it’ll never happen now

Sad to see that. He had just expanded retail and I had hopes that would his push into mainstream stores would help elevate wet shaving beyond our niche. Hopefully Avi is on to something new!

No offense, but a $360 razor is not going to either be "mainstream" or take wet shaving "beyond our niche".

Look, I'm just being positive. As a business owner in this space I think a simple tip of the cap to our fallen brethren isn't too much to ask. Also, both Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman are decidedly mainstream so no snarky quotations necessary.

I'll refer back to my original post. As I'm sure Matt can attest (and yourself) it takes some volume to recoup costs and cross over into profitability. I think our concepts of "mainstream" might be different.
I am acknowledging the challenges, not celebrating the demise.

It is too bad. Perhaps Avi and his friend mentioned on their website will make a few razors and sell them through another vendor. I can't see him giving up that talent. That website also took a lot of work too. Best of luck to him in the future. I'm hoping he'll still be around.

I wouldn't call this closing as sad more unfortunate. However, you can get the R10 as a set with the razor stand directly from Raw Shaving.
