Tatara Nodachi/H&S N075-SS, BIC.

The weight and polished finish of the H&S gives it a much different feel from the Nodachi. A bit smoother, the Nodachi might have a slight edge in efficiency. Both marvelous.

Next will try the Nodachi with the longer Asylum RX handle which also balances pretty well.

Dayman Wrote:How is the blade feel on the Nodachi? The specs look very similar to the Karve D plate, which didn’t have much blade feel to me, but I’ve read that the Nodachi is on the upper medium edge of efficiency/aggressiveness.

The blade feel is there but not overly so. I've never used a Karve so cannot make a direct comparison sorry. It is extremely efficient but does not feel dangerous or overly aggressive and is an every other day shaver since after 24 hours there is really not enough growth to need another shave for my face and head. It is great with polsilver, feathers and Astra SP which are the only blades I've tried in it to this point.  I prefer the Astra as it makes the shave even smoother. Finally yes the baseplates and top caps are interchangeable with the original Masamune head! This chart is copied from an ATG member who reached out to Tatara and was sent this chart showing the specs for different combos. I have not tried any yet but I do have the Masamune OC and will be experimenting the coming weeks.

Thanks. It sounds like I would like it. Does it cover the blade tabs? I like razors that leave them exposed.

Are the top caps the same between both models? Is the difference only the base plate?

Caps are also different between the two Tatara models. Thus according to the Joao the old cap on the Nodachi would yield neutral exposure.

Nice pictures I like the original handle on it myself! Eager to hear your thoughts on how it stands up to your collection. Nice shot of the exposed tabs too!
