Thanks for the update.

Question from a non-tech savvy user. Am I correct that Reply will result in up to 3 nested quotes, and at that point, I'm still not sure what Quote will do for me. Sorry to be dense.

yes, it shouldn't show any more than 3 nested quotes.

the quote button will allow you to quote several people in a thread before replying to them. the reply button will quote just that one post.

brothers - with the quote button you can click several posts and then type your reply in the quick reply or select all the posts you want to quote and then hit post reply. You can tell which posts you have selected to quote because the button changes color.

Bear in mind on the reply and the nested quotes its the three most recent nested quotes that show; this only applies to nested quotes.

My take on this is that as long as the reply button quotes by default you will see this issue and really, we should make it so there is ONE quoting mechanism for posts, not two.

Makes sense. FWIW, I see no problem with this s/w. Does all I need, but maybe my pedestrian use of a board doesn't represent the average user, but I doubt it. My wife tells me that I am the quintessential "average guy"! It also reduces the need to beg for funding via paid memnerships and that's nice!

Yea, of course, it does cost something to run the server, so there are associated costs with the site. No doubt someone will say you can get hosting for super cheap rate x at hosting company y, but in most cases (and all the ones I have encountered so far) - you get what you pay for. These very cheap hosts usually restrict the number of connections; that isnt members on line, but connections to the database, and as you can imagine there are a LOT of database calls.

I suppose removing the reply button should suffice.

Dont remove it andrew - edit it. So it doesnt quote the post but allows a one click reply - for those who dont know how to use the quick reply Smile
