In between haircuts the hair on the back of my neck grows enough where it looks terrible.  Now I am not vain but have always been self conscience of the way it looks.  I’ve seen men while in stores where their neck hair is so long that it extends over their shirt collar.  So between haircuts I shave the back of my neck.  I do not use my double edge safety razor for fear that I will end up cutting myself.  To me, holding a mirror in order to look in another mirror while attempting to shave the back my neck with a double edge razor is not for me.  So, I use a cartridge razor and a can of Foamy.  The only good thing about it is a can of Foamy lasts me several years.

Question?  What do you all do?

So did mine until I began wet shaving many years ago. When I asked her to shave my neck she said with all that shaving stuff you have purchased you do it. Can't ever win.

I just have my wife do it with an electric trimmer. No need to have it "razor blade close".

Electric trimmer, no guard and a handheld mirror in front of a larger mirror.

I certainly know a yeti when I see one. When I wrote that I have seen some me in stores with long neck hair I was not referring to a yeti. I am talking about people like myself. But these men just let themselves go. I ride motorcycles with two men who a would assume are yetis. That is not whom I am referring to. Both of the can shave at 7:00AM and by 3:00PM they could shave again. Come to think of it my dentist is one. So, I hope you do not think I meant to insult you.

nah, no offense taken!

I shave my head with a razor so I shave my neck 2-3X/week.

Been cutting my own hair for well over 20 years (electric clippers and scissors), so part of that routine is trimming the neck hair, as well.

Obviously, a muscle memory has developed over all this time. The interesting thing is that it has translated to using a DE/SE razor, so sometimes I use my razor on my neck in between haircuts. (Silly but effective do-it-yourself tip: To get a straight line back there when using clippers, use a long piece of masking tape or a rubber band.)

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I also like a clean presentation and don't like the hair on the back of my neck messing up that look when I'm wearing a suit. I just take a Mach 3 and do it dry. I go as low as I can reach on the bottom of my neck while looking in the mirror and stroke upwards until I hit the growth line of my head hair. I do that for a bit and feel it with my hand until it feels smooth. I have never cut myself that way, never get irritation. And it lasts for a couple weeks. No need to futz with lather back there.
