Today I show a Punktal in a nice Art Deco box. The box is a bit large for just a DE-razor, but once opened you see why: except for water and a mirror everything is there for a shave. It is a travelkit, hence the name Reisefreund: travelmate, it's just a bit larger then most.

Inside an Aftershavebottle, of which I'm not sure whether it came filled or empty, a boar brush legally protected), a shavingstick now odorless and room for blades, in my case by the copetitor Sonnal. It would have been nice had the bottle been filled with an Aftershave with a smell fitting to the shavingstick.

The razor itself, original label still fitted, is lightweight plastic, with a metal topcap. The topcap is asymmetrical, with a sort of hump along one side forcing a steeper shavingangle. This side is more agressive and marked Vorrasur: preshave. Meant for the first pass therefore. The ther side is more shallow, needing a shallower shavingangle, and also a bit milder. Both sides are efficient.

It is a slant of the non-torqued diagonal type, where the angle of the head can be adjusted to three positions. The middle position is a bit shallower than for instance the iKon 102, the most extreme position is steeper than the 45° the Neo-* family of razors has. I have, so far, only used the middle position.
The head functions a a cagerazor, or lathercatcher. The safetybar rather coarsely toothed, it will lead the shave with the preshaveside.

Blade Exposure is less with the preshave side, due to the angle however that side is still most aggressive. Since the razor makes about the same amount of noise in all shavingangles, shaving must be done by feel alone. This is, at least in the middle position, easier with the milder side. I'll try the other positions the next few shaves.

This razor is the same as the Punktal TR-66a.
