Some additional information might help. Have you inspected the “male” threads on the top cap closely? Do they provide any clues? Are there metal bits in the threads? Do the threads appear damaged at all? Next, have you tried shining a light into the handle? Any gunk or metal bits evident? Have you tried tapping the handle, with hole down against a non firm surface? (A plastic cutting board would probably do). Don’t use too much force. Have you probed the handle opening with a toothpick? Try holding it with the threaded hole down, and run the toothpick around the hole, probing gently. Any gunk fall out? Next, you can use an air compressor with a “spray” nozzle to blow gunk out of the handle opening. I’d do all these things before trying any “mechanical” steps aimed at solving a problem not yet fully diagnosed....
Also, WD-40 is a useful light solvent/cleaner tat might work. The spray force alone may free up gunk that got jammed in the handle. (Don’t wear nice clothes and stay away from the interior spaces of your household when trying this).
