Gents,

I purchased this 7/8 beauty for 103.90 shipped, because I love shaving with old Sheffield razors, and I thought that I might be able to rehab it into a more useable and desirable condition!

I had absolutely no clue how to rehab a razor so I watched a couple YouTube videos, and came up with the plan of sanding it by hand using a progression of wet/dry sand paper, and then polishing it by hand with Maas.  I do not have any power tools.

So I purchased the sandpaper and ultimately ended up going down to 400 grit, then to 600, 800, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, and then 7000.

The blade is far from perfect, but that wasn’t what I was going for...I just wanted to try my hand at something new, and to get this razor into a useable condition.  I also lightly sanded and oiled the scales.

I am happy with how it turned out!  I am planning to hone it tomorrow, and will give it a whirl on Wed or Thurs!

Here are some pictures!

Just got one, same price what you paid; I shouldn't have checked your post.

That turned out great. Did you use a wine cork? If not, I would highly recommend it. Wrap the sandpaper around the cork and then sand. It gets into the hollow grind and saves your fingertips from accidents.

Thanks Gabe!  I did not use a wine cork!

I will try that on this one!
