Your conclusions are why I am considering an Open Comb.  Thanks.

Having already a 1.55 as you were told before I would opt for 1.75 "which will also be my next order" as regards the open comb, I think it adds a little more efficiency but sacrificing smoothness

I don't recommend WR1, it has much more blade feel and is certainly less efficient than a WR2

I think the open comb option could be good on lower gaps from 1.35 down or maybe an open/closed

Thanks for the responses. I am going to order a WR2 1.75SB. So much for an Open Comb.

You will love that! I have a Copper WR2 DC 1.75SB/1.55OC. One of my absolute favorites!

The .94 OC WR1 used to be my favorite shaver and it’s still one of the razors I want to love the most as it has a good amount of blade feel which I enjoy. But in reality, I don’t even reach for my WR1’s anymore because the WR2’s just shave so much better for me. Ideally, I’d say get both because that’s what I’d do but since you’re being “prudent”, go with the WR2.

Also, I’d still recommend a 1.75 or 1.85 because I’m not sure you’ll notice much difference from your 1.55 in the jump to 1.65 and don’t want you to feel like it’s superfluous. Personally, I can’t tell a difference between the 1.55 and 1.65, YMMV.
I totally agree with you Sir

In fact it is better to skip 2 gaps, as you said there are no differences other than minimal between 1.45 and 1.55 as well as between 1.55 and 1.65

Absolutely agreed. I shudder to think of the money I’d have saved if I’d known this sooner, haha!

Open comb works really well with the WR1. I also like the solid comb on the WR1 as well though. WR2 solid for sure.

Thanks for everyone's input. I ordered a WR1 .94 OC SS and a WR2 1.75 SB Ti. So much for prudence......

I received and shaved with the Ti 1.75SB this evening. Unbelievably close. Not sure I will have enough growth to use the .94OC tomorrow. We shall see. Thanks again, for everyone's input.
